The gun clattered to the floor. Lucas stood in front of me, his dark magnificent glory emitting from him. He smirked. “I knew you loved me. You can’t fight what’s true in your heart, Adrian.” He opened his arms and something compelled me to rush into them. His long arms folded around me and held me to his chest. I cried into his chest and kissed him neck.

Though I had Lucas for what he did to me, I had somehow managed to fall in love with him in only a few short days. That takes talent on his part. He’s something else. He kissed my head. “I knew you’d come around.”

“How did you know where you’d find me?” I asked, looking at him.

“I asked Nelson, of course. I said I was friend and he gave the address up. That barn is gone. He must have torn it down after you left. I wonder why.”

I choked a little. The bar was gone. “I think it’s because I shows him the gun collection.”

“About that.” Lucas said, lifting my chin up. “I think it’s damn sexy for a girl to be in sweats and know how to handle a gun.” He kissed me.

“I thought you were dead.”

“I thought I was going to be. Amelia, however, found me after she brought you home. Why did she bring you home?”

I looked away from Lucas. “She came to let me know…that she knows.”

“Knows what?” He cocked his eyebrow and I cast my eyes down. He pulled my head up so my eyes could meet his. “She came to let you know that she knows what, Adrian?”

I closed my eyes tightly. “I slept with Nelson.” I sucked in a breath because I knew how male vampires got over their loved ones. I’ve hurt plenty of female vampires in front of their husbands and have come extremely close to meeting the Angel of Death.

Lucas pushed me away, keeping me at arm’s length. “When?” I didn’t answer and question turned to a statement, gritted out from his teeth. “When. Adrian.”

“A few weeks ago. It was just after Amelia checked up on me.” His hands slackened. He hugged me again.

“I love you, Adrian. I’m happy that the night you left wasn't the night you slept with him. I think I would have killed the human if it were.” I smiled at him and sighed, feeling content in his arms. I knew I wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of my life here in his arms.

He kissed the top of my head again and I knew he felt the same. “Adrian, I have a question for you.” I didn’t say anything so he continued. “Will you marry me?” I chocked and suddenly, I felt dizzy. My knees buckled so Lucas had to hold me up. “A touch of the Vapors?” he asked. I scuffed but knew it was the “Vapors”. “Answer me, will you marry me?”

“So soon?”

“We are meant to be, so why not? I needn’t go back South. I can stay right here with you and your family. I know how much you love them. Just say yes.” I nodded.

“Yes, Lucas, I’ll marry you.” He swung me around and I felt like he was happier than I was surprised. I had tried to kill him and he’s a vampire. “Oh, dear.” I moaned.

“What?”

“I’m still part vampire.”

“Yes, and you will be full after the wedding.”
