Clato; the real star-crossed lovers

Chapter 13

I wake up to large, warm hands slightly shaking me. "Clove." The strong voice says. Still half-asleep, i turn over, and and hold the hand. "Umm... Clover?" I dart my head up, and see his face. "Hello, sleepyhead." Cato says messing my hair up. "Stop it!" I cry. He laughs, and i jump at him, and pin him to the ground. He sits up, and kisses me. I stand up, and shoo him out. I put on on denim pants, and a frilly coral tank top, with mint green ankle boots. I put my hair in a ponytail, and walk out the door. I pile my breakfast with a bisquit, bacon, scrambled eggs, and a waffle with whipped cream and strawberries. An avox brings me a cup of milk when i sit next to cato. I shovel down my breakfast, and finish the large glass of milk. When cato finishes, he burps in approval, making Amanda grimance. "Manners." She croaks.

When we depart off the train, and people cheer for us, and snap our pictures. We walk right passed them, and into the justice building. Amanda brings us to a large window, and people are crowded there to see us. We smile, and wave to them. They cheer, and i notice at the back of the crowd Ari, Daniel, and Shade. I wave to them, and they wave back. Ari should be 7 months pregnant by now, so they know the gender of the babies. We found out she was having twins.When we were taken away from the large window, we said goodbye to Amanda and our stylists and prep team."Ill miss you so darn much!" Alesia cries. Ari, Allie, and Avery are sobbing, and holding each other for support. "Well keep in touch," amanda says, "well see you in 6 months!" She hugs us, then walks away with my sobbing team, and cato's lovesick team.

Me and Cato walk out of the justice building, hand in hand, brutus and enobaria following us. Ari runs up to me, and hugs me tight, while Daniel helps Shade over to us slowly. Shade hugs me in tears, "Clove! Your back, I was so worried!!" She cries. She stops crying, and wipes the tears away, "damn hormones." She says making us all laugh. Daniel crosses his arms, and raises his eyebrows, "so, you did both make it back. I guess I thought wrong." He says. Cato wraps his arm around me, and I look at him, and smile. "Damn, Clove your tall." I hit him, and he rubs his arm. "Yeah, clove, you got big." Ari agrees. I roll my eyes, and shake my head, and barely notice Cato depart to his own family.

Most of the time, I don't see Cato. Settling into my own home, people congratulating me to my winning, catching up on things, training to be a mentor or trainer for the academy. People stare at me when I train at the training center, because I'm out of place. A 17-year old victor training. I don't mind, I'm used to stares, but when Cato comes into the academy, he smiles at me. I ignore him, I'm working, he comes up to me. "Do you need someone to do hand-to-hand with?" He whispers in my ear. "Why are you here?" I ask. "I'm a trainer." He says. I roll my eyes, and shake my head, "I'm fine. I just want to get these few months until my birthday over with, I'm going to be a knife trainer." I say. He nods, and walks away.

4 months later

Today is finally my birthday!!! I get a new knife set, a clover framed is 1' tall, from Cato, obviously. I get a crown, and it is signed with all of the district 2 victors. My personal favorite, from Daniel, shade, and Ari. It's a dart board with fire girl's face on it. I go into the training center with Cato, and balloons and confetti fall from the ceiling. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CLOVE!!" Someone walks up to me, and hands me a trainer's uniform. I go put it on, and look at the time. 5:45 training starts in 15 minutes. The confetti is all cleaned up when I come out, and Brutus and Enobaria take me to the knife station, and explain what I have to do, and after lunch, I'm on hand-to-hand combat station with Cato.
