Chapter 3

~Brotherly Love

I woke up the next morning feeling hung over even though I didn’t drink last night. My eyes felt like they were glued shut. It hurt like hell when I finally opened them. It was like someone tore my eye lashes off.

My bedroom was brighter than usual. The white curtains that hung gracefully over my only window were pulled back, letting a good amount of sunlight into my room. It was morning but I felt like I had been sleeping for days!

The sunlight made the vivid blue on my walls stand out even more. I had never seen my room so beautiful like this before. Then again, I’ve never woken up this early. It looked like the sun was just starting to come up, what time was it?

I slowly sat up, looking around my room for my old, barely working alarm clock. When I finally found it I was disappointed. It was only five AM! I really wanted to go back to sleep but I knew I couldn’t.

“Fucking A.” I mumbled to myself, slowly getting out of my warm, comfortable bed. I walked over to the window and looked outside at the growing day. Birds started singing as they flew by my window. I smiled at them, wishing I was a bird. Wishing I could fly away, with Sam of course!

I set my head on the window ceil, slowly falling asleep. Before I could completely fall asleep there was a knock on my bedroom door. I groaned. “Come in…” I shouted just loud enough for the intruder to hear.

The door opened a crack and none other than Sam, stuck his head in. He smiled at me the best he could. I was in such shock last night I forgot all about Sam! I’m glad he’s okay. I jumped to my feet and ran over to the door, opening it all the way so Sam could come in.

The second he stepped through the door I wrapped my arms around him and smiled. “I’m glad you’re alive…” I buried my face deep into his chest. Loving the sound of his heartbeat.

“Yeah, that’s why I came over; I didn’t see you after that incident.” He sighed happily. “I don’t know what I would do without you…” He chuckled and ran his fingers through my golden brown curls.

I finally pulled away from him, looking him over. He wasn’t dressed nice like he usually was. Instead of a nice button up long sleeved shirt he was wearing a faded white t-shirt. He was also wearing black skinny jeans instead of his usual loose fitting faded blue jeans. Even though he didn’t look his usual self, he still was pretty hot. Fuck it, Sam looked hot in pretty much anything!

“So what exactly happened last night?” He wondered around my room, looking at the walls and the pure white carpet. “I was upstairs and I heard screams.” He turned to me, looking me over.

“What were you doing upstairs…?” I glared at him, knowing exactly what he was doing. Well, maybe not exactly, but pretty close.

He laughed nervously and ran his fingers through his messy hair. “Well I met this girl and we were having a decent conversation…” He swallowed hard and inched toward the door. He was so lying…

He took off, sprinting down the steps. I ran after him even though I knew I could never catch him, he had been in track for three years and always got first in long distance running. But I tried anyways. He may be faster, but I was smarter.

Sam ran into the kitchen, bumping into the chairs as he passed them. I took a short cut and went through the living room. I jumped out in front of Sam and he ran right into me, knocking me to the ground.
