Grass deteriorates in the game if you walk over it often, but much slower than other Animal Crossing games. It grows back and quicker if flowers and trees are nearby the deteriorated area. If you plant flowers near that area, water the flowers. Rain and snow help grow it back as well.
You can put patterns on the ground and the grass won't wear away on that area.
