For what seemed like the thousandth time, you turned over onto your side. The gentle rocking of the ship did nothing to soothe your restlessness. The fact that the pirate whom was usually at your side was currently not present contributed to the fact that you could not sleep. you knew that he was only above deck but it still gave you a sense of security when he was there with his arms holding you against his chest. You sighed once more and rolled onto your back, staring up at the wood ceiling above you. The candles that usually burned brightly were now flickering lowly as you flung the blanket from your body and swung your legs over the side of the bed. The palms of your hands rubbed your eyes and you yawned lightly.

You were tired, but you just couldn't sleep. So taking a few moments to think about what you wanted to do, you decided it might be a good idea to get some fresh air. You stood and quietly made your way to the closed door of the quarters, your bare feet producing soft footsteps as you walked. You opened the door, slipped out and closed it as quietly as you could.

The night air hit your skin and caused a shiver to roll down your spine, but it felt nice. It had felt too warm under the blankets. As you gazed around there were still a members of the crew going about their business, a few sitting and chatting among themselves. You turned your gaze out to the water which was calm and dark, it looked almost velvety. Leaning against the wood banister you crossed your arms over it and let out a breath. You hadn't moved too far and you were sure that you hadn't been spotted by anyone yet.

After several minutes of simply watching the boat glide through the silky water, you decided to head up the stairs to the helm of the ship, where a tall hooded figure stood. His head turned at the sound of your footsteps, at first his movements were sharp but then he relaxed as he recognized you.

"What are you doing awake, love?" He asked, his wonderful and smooth Welsh accent filled the air, and he gracefully moved towards you to take you into his arms. You snuggled into his chest and breathed in the faint scent of gunpowder that clung to him.

"I couldn't sleep." You mumbled, your words were muffled as you buried your face into his firm chest, which soon shook lightly as he chuckled.

"Miss me, did you?" He teased, his hands rubbing your waist. You nodded and pulled her head back to look up at him slightly.

"I did, do you have a problem with that?" You countered, pressing a light kiss to chin.

"No," He answered, "not at all." He dipped his head to capture your lips.

After the two of you broke away, you stood like that for a while, just enjoying each others presence. Your arms had loosely wound around his torso, but as your eyes slipped shut, your grip began to falter the slightest.

"Don't fall asleep on me now." Edward's voice broke through once again, and you lifted your head from his chest.

"Hmm?" You rubbed your eyes once more. "Right, sorry." You broke out of Edward's embraced and staggered backwards slightly. "I guess I am pretty tired." You said with a yawn, looking up at the full moon that shone brightly in the clear, cloudless sky.

"Well what do you say we head to bed then?" The pirate suggested with a, reaching forward to place a hand on your shoulder to steady you. He then took your hand in his and urged you to follow him. He made a gesture with his hand to whom you could only assume was Adewale before he then pulled you back into his quarters. He sat you down on the bed and you could only watch with continued amazement as the grace of his movements as removed all of his armor, stripping down to just trousers. He flashed you a signature smirk upon catching you staring, and he settled down on the opposite side of the bed.

Edward reached out to slip his arm around you and once more pull you to him. You laid your head on his chest, content with listening to his heartbeat while your fingers gingerly traced over the scars that littered his chest. Now that he was with you, you felt more calm and safe. It always amazed you that he could be so gentle and compassionate and caring, since it was the last thing you would expect from a rugged and fierce assassin such as him. But you enjoyed it nonetheless. His steady breaths and the sound of his heartbeat were more than enough to help you sleep.

"Goodnight, love." Was the last thing you heard as you fell into a now sound and tranquil slumber.
