I had I dream. Their was a silhouette of a street, the pointy and curved roofs, thin lampposts scattered around but letting out a low amber glow, cartoon smoke rising from odd chimney. It was a completely empty atmosphere, their was the faint hear of footsteps echoing only interrupted by the cruising hum of a unseen car driving past. The sky went from a midnight blue to the sunny day colour, a luminous yellow circle rose from behind a block of flats. It was the Sun. A friendly grin was growing on the Suns face, it became happier and happier as it watched families walking to school, men and women walking their dogs, children running playing football or sitting on a wall eating ice cream. The sun opened its mouth attempting to say hello to he bustling street below but it's face was immediately smacked with disappointed when no sounds came out of its lips. Everyone down below was getting on with their lives laughing and talking but the Sun was all alone. As the Sun met the other end of the street and the sky went pinky blue the people were saying goodbye and shutting their front door, one by one the rays of light originating from their windows dimmed and the street was once again all black. Just as the Sun was cut in half and was about to say goodbye shock came to them when the Moon arose from the other side. Their mouths widened and eyebrows greatly lifted, the Moon said one thing that nearly brought a tear to the Suns cheeks:
"I'm the Moon" the Moon put on a tiny smirk as its waited for the Suns response.
"I'm the..." But their happiness was short-lived because before the Sun could finish its sentence it faded behind a small house at the edge and the last shimmer of light followed behind it. The Moon officially new how she must of felt before it rose, the Moon couldn't talk to anyone, it was dark and the air had a slight bite on the Moons bumpy skin. It was alone for what felt like eternity then when it new it's time had come the Sun showed up just where she did about twelve hours ago.
"Sun" the sun confidently announced
"and you're not alone" it was like the Sun had read the Moons mind. The Moon knew it needed to say goodbye when whereas instead the Moon and Sun began to rise in unison until they were level to one another. They were together, and they never moved again.Just as they both grinned at each other I was awoken to feel someone tugging at my duvet. Aurora was tucking herself in next to me; her honeycomb hair fell near my face throwing its smell my way. She was a calmer sleeper then I thought, her sweet innocent face showed no expression while she fiddled around. I think she was adjusting to normal life , slowly at least but I was happy to take her under my wing, I was happy to be her friend.
Today was a Saturday, the one day my mum is around. If I ever forget it's her day today I am quickly reminded from her religiously shouting at every single staff in five minutes. But today I didn't hear any shouting therefore I didn't wake up he same time and way as usual, today Aurora was shaking my elbows rapidly and when I gradually opened my eyes she was looking worried, I couldn't think why but then I heard my mums voice from the other side of the door. Thankfully when Aurora shut it last night the latch was on so my mum couldn't get in to see a homeless girl roaming around. I panicky whispered at Aurora to hide under the bed and then I went on a ten second rampage to make my room look presentable. I flattened out the duvet and pillows, stuffed all my toys in the crate and locked it so it didn't pop at a random moment, I threw the wet towels from last night into my wardrobe. The door was all between me and my mum on a rampage under no control so I took one deep breath and unlocked the door. Instantly my mum barged through whacking the door into my wall shaking it and the floor around me.
"STELLA! MINDY TOLD ME YOU FAKED HURTING YOUSELF, AND THEN RAN AWAY FOR THE DAY!" She squawked. I didn't know how to get out of this one.
"I just went to go and explore in the woods" I explained. She stomped towards me as her hand slowly built up power. I knew she was going to hit me so I held air in my mouth to cushion the blow; I could feel each air molecules being compressed onto my soft freckly cheek, her eyes were burning into me and she didn't blink once. Her head dramatically turned to my bed to see Aurora standing there who had just hit the wall to get our attention.
"WHO ARE YOU!" My mum was both fuming and confused but that didn't make her start acting rationally. Aurora couldn't answer her question so instead she just tried to look brave. "Mum, this is Aurora. She's a new friend" I wasn't going to tell my mum who she really was just in case my mum went mental on her.
"A new friend? Well you need to tell her to leave" mum said standing up straight folding her arms.
"You can't just kick her out!" I protested. Mums face was stone-still, she was facing Aurora yet talking to me as I was behind her, but the moment I said that sentence her head moved to the left and her eyes followed.
"Oh can, and I will" in a flash mum backhanded me with one clean move. This action led to me being violently thrown to the floor and a slash across the same cheek from my mums ring. Mums body was charging up again preparing to abuse me again when Aurora flung her leg over me and placed her hands on my mums stomach trying to push her away. My mums face changed when she felt Aurora's little tense fingers digging into her expensive blouse. It was like mum had been dethroned, someone had challenged her and mum didn't know what to do. Aurora knelt beside me and pulled me up and we both ran for the door. We got out to the garden where I pushed Aurora into the forest and told her not to look back. He ribbon on her dress was the last thing I saw when she disappeared around a towering willow tree. I let out all the adrenaline from inside with one big sigh.
