Different, An R5 Little Sister Story

Chapter 11

"Sometime Last Night is the bomb.com!" I exclaimed. We were sitting in the living room, listening to R5's new album, Sometime Last Night. "What did you just say?" Rocky asked with a raised eyebrow. "You can't judge me. I'll say what I want to say," I retorted. Rocky rolled his eyes playfully. Riker chuckled. "Yeah, whatever you say. Thanks, Rei. We worked really hard on this. We're glad you like it," he said. "No problem," I said.

Ratliff came out of the kitchen holding three giant bowls of popcorn. "Are we still watching the movie?" he asked. "Yeah. Gimme some of that," Ryland replied while reaching for a bowl. Ratliff handed him a bowl and I chuckled.

I looked at the time. "Lucas should be here by now," I said with a worried expression on my face. "Reignbow, you worry too much. Lucas is fine. It's only been an hour," Rydel reasoned. I was soothed at her words.

I sank into the pillows and blankets on the couch. "Hey! Stop hogging the blankets! It's cold!" Ross yelled. I threw one at him and it landed on his face. We all laughed. The doorbell rang. I jumped up and rushed to the door.

"Hey, Lu-" I started. "Hey," he interrupted while hugging me. I hugged back. "Well, someone's excited to see me," I playfully accused after we parted. "Yeah, that's it. We just haven't seen each other in a while," Lucas replied. For some reason, he looked jittery and nervous. "Are you okay?" I asked. "Fine, fine. So, we're going to watch a movie?" he replied, changing the subject. "Yeah," I said suspiciously while closing the door, "Come on. Everyone's in the living room."

"Lucas! Over here, Bro!" Ryland exclaimed, while patting the seat next to him. I was so surprised how fast the boys bonded with Lucas after winning that one hockey game. Now, whenever they get the chance, Dad, Lucas, and the boys would go to the ice rink and play hockey. "Yeah, sure!" Lucas replied. "So, did you guys pick a movie?" I asked. "Yeah," Rydel replied. She sat on the couch, right next to me. "We played rock, paper, scissors and Ross ended up winning. So, we're watching Romeo and Juliet again," Riker added. I looked at Ross and pouted. "Rossy," I whined. "What?" he mimicked. "We always watch that," I said, pout evident on my face. He gasped and put a hand to his chest, as if offended. "There is no such thing as too much Romeo and Juliet," he said, acting hurt. I rolled my eyes playfully.

About halfway through the movie, Riker got a phone call. "I'll be right back. Gotta take this call," he said. We all shushed him. Riker went into the kitchen to take his call.

I noticed Lucas was staring at me. I made a weird face at him. He silently chuckled and turned back to the movie. I looked over to my right and saw that Rydel and Ellington were cuddling. Ellington caught me looking and winked. I winked right back. I loved the fact that Ellington and Rydel are dating. I was the very first person that Ellington told about him liking Rydel and I must say it makes me feel trustworthy.

Suddenly, Riker came running out of the kitchen and turned off the TV. "Hey!" we all complained. Riker turned the lights on. "I just got a call from Dad," he said. "Why? What happened? Is something wrong?" I asked, worried. "No, everything's fine," Riker assured. We all sighed in relief. "But," he started. I held my breath. "Mom and Dad do have some very exciting news when they get home. They already told me." "It's good news, right?" Rocky asked. "Very good news," Riker responded.

"I guess I'll be leaving then. It might be some family affair or R5 business," Lucas said, standing up. "Oh no, Lucas. Mom and Dad said they want you here for the announcement," Riker said.

We watched the rest of the movie while waiting for Mama and Dad. Then, we all heard the front door open. Mama and Dad walked into the living room. They both had huge smiles on their faces. "So," Mama announced, "as you know we had a meeting with your management." "And they loved your album so much. So does the rest of the world, apparently. So many sales have been made on the Sometime Last Night album," Daddy finished. "So, R5 is going on a world tour!" Mama and Dad exclaimed together. Everyone broke out into screams of celebration. Ellington spinned Rydel around and kissed her. Rocky and Ross shared a bro-hug. Ryland was pumping his fists in the air and yelling, "Heck yeah!" I smiled and shouted the occasional, "Whoo!"

I noticed Lucas was awkwardly sitting on the couch, so I decided to help him. "Wait. Why did Lucas need to be here for this?" I asked. "Well, we were wondering if you wanted to come with us, Lucas," Mama said with a welcoming smile. Everyone's eyes were on Lucas.

"I-I," he started. I looked at him with pleading eyes. "I'd love to," he said. Everyone cheered. "But I can't," Lucas finished, "I have too many responsibilities here. I'm sorry." "It's okay, Son," Dad said, "We'll be sure to get you tickets and backstage passes when we have a show here." Lucas gave my parents a grateful look. "I'll be sure to come to the L.A. show, then," he said.

"Group hug!" Ratliff exclaimed.
