"Get out of my way John!" I screamed as I push my way to where the meeting was taking place. I heard a gun shot from outside of the room and prayed that my father wasn't hurt. As I try to push my way further in, only being blocked by the guards, I see a figure I know far too well run out of the room. Worried, I abandon my previous endeavors and follow the man.
"Bellamy!" I force out of my throat. My voice is raspy due to my screams prior. He doesn't turn around, so I keep running after him. I see him meet someone, they are talking about something important. Both have serious expressions on their faces. Bellamy in particular looks panicked and distraught. I keep running only to be met by two guards. I suddenly recognize where I'm in the Ark: the drop ship that is taking 100 delinquents to Earth. When I snap out of my thoughts, I look up to see two guards frowning down at me.
"Excuse me, my father has asked me to check on the controls to make sure everything is working correctly." I state.
"I'm sorry miss, but we didn't get word of that order. We can't let you through." The woman guard sternly tells me.
"What is your name ma'am?" I ask, annoyed.
"Captain Nelly Crooks." She croaks, confused on why I would ask.
"Captain Nelly Crooks I am not sure if you are aware of my position on the Ark. While I may not be the Chancellor or a council member, I am one of the most respected people on this ship. I am arguably the most intelligible person aboard, assisting in surgeries with Dr. Griffin, overseeing mechanical inspections, writing manuals for engineers, assisting the council and Chancellor in decision making, and many other extremely important tasks. If I say I need to make sure that the drop ship is running properly... The drop ship that is a life or death experiment for the rest of the Ark... Then I think I should be able to go in and check on the control!" I declare. Captain Crooks looks at me stunned. I make a forward movement, testing to see if her and the other guard will let me pass. Seeing that they don't make a move to stop me I continue forward.
I look behind me seeing the two guards still with a stupefied expressions on their faces. 'Heh, serves them right for bossing me round. Although I can't believe that actually worked! I usually don't do stuff like that.' I thought to myself. I keep running forward, trying to find where Bellamy had run off to. As I'm searching, I see a mop of brown hair to the left of me. I turn and see Bellamy proceeding on the drop ship. Confused I follow, trying to catch up to him.
Before I get to the ship, Bellamy is already gone. "Did that man just board this ship?" I ask one of the guards.
"I'm not aware of any man on the ship ma'am. Only the delinquents." He states, looking straight ahead with an expressionless look on his face. 'This guard is obviously lying.' I thought to myself, 'And he just called me ma'am! I'm not old enough to be a ma'am! What the hell! Wait, no Kay stay focused. Bellamy is on that ship.'
I start to move forward. "I'm going to have to to go on the ship real-" I declare before I am cut off.
"Ma'am I'm afraid I can't let you do that." The guard blankly stated.
"Ugh not again! I already told your captain over there," I gestured to the woman I quarreled with before "that I need to check the ship. I don't need identification or clearance because I am the person who came up with this ship in the first place. Now let me on my ship before I call the Chancellor down here himself! Have I made myself clear?" I yell at the guard. All he does is nod his head and turn to the side, letting me pass. "I will be out in a bit, don't wait up for me. I wrote the procedure for this whole take off, so I know all of the times and checks. I'll be out in plenty of time before take off." I tell the guard. Once again he nods and returns to his post.
I take a deep breath, again not believing that my lying actually worked (well the only thing I lied about was needing to check the ship, the rest was true), and boarded the ship. I don't see Bellamy anywhere, so I decide to sit in the very back of the ship where no one would notice me. I strap myself onto the wall and prepare for take off.
'Bellamy Blake there is no way you're leaving me behind on the Ark. You're not leaving without knowing what I've been hiding from you for the past month. I'm not going to let you be unaware of the secret I'm keeping.' I thought to myself, a determined look flashing in my eyes.

A/N
Hey sorry that this is so short! I don't really want to give away a lot of the back story right now. I am hoping to make the other chapters longer. I hope you enjoyed this chapter! It's mainly supposed to show you how Kay got on the ship in the first place.
Comment with any suggestions, ideas, or criticism. Everything helps! Thank you everyone☺️
