Lightningstorm had watched Starlingkit get worse over the moon knowing there was nothing she could do. Her young kit grew weaker, and the kit's days were numbered.
"Airstar, and Lightningstorm, I am off to Moonpool. It's half moon," mewed Lilacleaf.
"What about Starlingkit?" Lightningstorm asked. She was panicing.
"She will be fine for one night without me," snapped the medicine cat. She had hardly slept in the pass moon, and was starting to regret being such good friends with Lightningstorm.
"Ok, ok, umm are you sure?" Lightningstorm asked.
Airstar sighed. "She will be fine for one night, and Honeystar told me she overlooked a part of your training. You are going with Lilacleaf to Moonpool."
"But, it's time for the medicine cats to speak with Starclan!" Lilacleaf hissed.
"The leaders word is the code," Airstar growled.
"Fine," hissed Lilacleaf. She was grumpy, because it would be the first half moon with Ravenclan.
They walked in silence through the pine trees. Then finally Lilacleaf broke the silence at the border of Shadowclan and Thunderclan.
"This is the biggest thing that could happen to the clans, and you get to be apart of the first medicine cat meeting," mewed Lilacleaf.
Lightningstorm shrugged, "I guess."
"You guess?" a cat growled in the shadows.
Lightningstorm easily recognized the scent of this cat and the sound of his voice. "Featherstorm, nice to see you."
"Young Lightningstorm, what are you doing? Are you a medicine cat apprentice? Or becoming a leader and getting your nine lives?" Featherstorm asked.
"No, Honeystar just forgot about taking me to Moonpool," mewed Lightningstorm.
"Oh," Featherstorm mewed as they approached the other medicine cats.
Dappleleaf of Riverclan was chatting with the new Windclan medicine cat apprentice, Moonlitpaw.
Rabbitleap was talking to the Ravenclan medicine cat, Wolfheart.
There was also a small silver she-cat with blue eyes staring at the lake.
"Hello, I am Lightningstorm."
"I am Silverpaw. You live in Shadowclan, right?"
"Yep, I am the deputy, but I haven't been to Moonpool and that's a part of apprentice training!"
"That's funny," purred Silverpaw.
Lightningstorm was beginning to think she liked Silverpaw.
"Well, we better be off," yowled Rabbitleap as he led the cats up the bank of the stream.
The cats reached Moonpool just before moonhigh.
"Just lay down and drink the water," mumbled Wolfheart. He was repeating what he heard. Every cat did that including Lightningsorm, and she closed her eyes and awoke in Starclan.
