Rosalyn POV.

"Thank you for finally sending me your writing!" Caroline beamed the next day as she sipped the latte I picked up for her. "I'm going to read it right after work today."

"I really hope you like it," I bit my lip nervously. Thanks to Emily not holding grudges, she revised my writing and emailed a bit of it to Caroline for me. I didn't want Caroline reading the whole thing until I finished the story, making the character of Rosie less of a bitch and Henry less of a naive idiot. I didn't want Caroline to think I was just using Harry for inspiration, even though that was sort of what I was doing initially. I decided to text Emily to properly thank her.

To Emily: hey buddy, I was thinking we could go to dinner tonight? I'll buy.

From Emily: um, sure, why?

To Emily: to say thank you for helping me with my writing, and to say sorry for being such a jerk yesterday.

From Emily: oh um you don't have to do that, consider yourself forgiven. we can still go to dinner though

To Emily: I'm buying! See you later xoxo

I didn't know why she was acting so weird, but I was sure she would tell me later. I turned back to Caroline, who was continuing to work on the first manuscript we started when I became an intern.

"So, you and Harry are getting real serious, huh?" she asked with a knowing smile as she whipped out a highlighter.

"Yeah," I smiled. "How'd you know?"

"I asked Harry how things were going and he told me you both declared your love," she teased. "It's great, really. You both seem to be really helping each other, both in writing and in life, so good for you both."

"Thanks," I grinned. "So, you and Harry really are close?"

"Yeah," she nodded, highlighting a section of words. "Known him since he was a little boy. I was really close to his mother, Anne, and used to babysit his older sister, Gemma, a lot. I was kind of like the cool aunt for him before I moved to New York permanently."

"That's awesome," I sighed. "I'm glad he has you in America, at least he has a little family here."

"He's a good boy," she nodded. "Take good care of him," she added, half-teasingly. I planned on taking great care of him for the rest of my life.

"I will," I promised.

The rest of the work day passed in a haze, nothing too exciting happening. I didn't do much editing, only intern-like tasks such as taking calls and sending emails. I liked these days, though. It gave me time to think and humbled me. I wasn't some hot-shot editor-slash-best-selling-author, I was still simply Rosalyn Jones, but with the best internship in the world. At the end of the day, we packed up and walked out together.

"Well, I will have some notes on your writing ready for you soon," Caroline promised as she hailed a taxi. I was planning to take the subway home.

I thanked her earnestly before we separated and I rushed to the subway station. I was excited to repair the damage done to my friendship with Emily by that stupid argument and get my life back to being perfect.

Emily and I decided on a nice Italian restaurant in Midtown, but both only got vegetarian salads. We had both been eating way too much unhealthy food recently, and Emily was thinking about going vegetarian, or at least cutting most meat out of her diet. I was not, but I'd at least join her in eating vegetarian food every now and then.
