Rosalyn POV.
I didn't go home until after dinner. I was dreading my conversation with Emily, even though I planned to forgive her. We had never, in all our years of friendship, fought this hard. I never wanted to fight this way again. No matter what, Emily was my best friend, and had been for many years. I wouldn't quickly forget that.
I came home to a quiet apartment. At first, I didn't even think Emily was there. The television wasn't on, nothing was cooking...silence. I wandered into the kitchen to finally see my best friend hunched over the counter, staring at her phone, silent tears falling down her face.
"Em," I spoke cautiously. "Everything okay?"
She looked at me with wide, surprised eyes.
"Why do you care?" she responded defensively.
"Because I do," I shrugged, joining her at the counter.
"Niall asked me to go on a date with him," she revealed. "Like, so we could work everything out. He said he wants to give this another shot."
"That's great!" I beamed. "Then why are you crying?"
"He said you're the one that brought him to his senses," she told me, her eyes now locked on her phone again. "I just really didn't expect that from someone who hates me so much."
"I don't hate you," I blurted immediately. There was no need to make her grovel any longer. "I've never been so angry with you, but I love you, Em. And you knew that was why I was at their place yesterday, so why are you so surprised?"
"I don't know," she sighed. "Can we try to be friends again? I get that we probably won't be best friends, but at least maybe not hate each other?"
"We're best friends forever." I promised, wrapping her into a tight hug.
We stood like that for a while, both sobbing over the hurt and guilt of the past few weeks. Her mascara ran onto my shirt, and I didn't care. I was probably hugging her way too tightly, but again, I didn't care.
"So, are you and Harry okay?" she asked, finally pulling away.
"Yeah," I answered with a soft smile. "We're together again. And I think I'm gonna go on tour!"
"What?" she laughed loudly. "Ros, that's so awesome!"
"I know!" I clapped. "I'm hoping I can work things out with Caroline, but yeah I'm planning on going and I'm so exited!"
"Wait," her face fell. "You're just gonna leave me here all by myself?"
"Maybe when you work things out with Niall, you can come on tour, too," I hoped. "It'd be great publicity for your designs and everything!"
"Ugh," she groaned. "Fans already think Niall and I are PR, that won't help."
"They think the same about Harry and I," I shrugged. "They'll think it unless we get married, and probably even then. We just gotta ignore it."
"We'll see what happens," a smile returned to her face. "Well, I'd better get ready for my date."
"Alright, have a blast," I said as she practically skipped down the hall.
