How It Started . . ."Are you going to Raven's party tonight," Shay asked, sliding into the back seat after she practically teleported to my car when I pulled in front of her house.
I picked Shay and Kayla up every morning since I was the only one with a car. Fortunately, and after some much needed persuading, my parents got me one on my 16th birthday last year.
I loved my car. It was a 2011 Dodge Charger that I couldn't imagine life without at this point. It was white with black rims my dad had decided to put on, and I'm totally glad that he did. My car could bring sexy back if it wanted to, Justin Timberlake would just have to wait.
So here we are; me in the drivers' seat, Kayla next to me in the passenger, and Shay with her head between us even though she was in the back.
"Ew, no," I said and scrunched up my face at the mere thought. I pulled away from Shay's house and literally shuddered at the thought. "That chick hates me," I said and shook my head, my curls quickly falling back in place afterwards.
"What," she screeched. "Kayla, tell her she has to go," she said frantically latching onto Kayla's arm.
"She has to go," Kayla repeated, preoccupied with her phone and shrugging Shay's arm off of her.
"You know what I meant, woman," Shay said and hit her playfully in the arm. "Chloe, you're going and that's final," she told me and sat back in her seat, folding her arms across her chest.
"Sure, Mommy Shay," I said sarcastically. "Somebody took a crazy pill this morning," I mumbled to Kayla but loud enough for Shay to hear.
"I'm going to pretend like I didn't hear that," she said popping her head back between us. "We're all going. And you're going to love it."
I groaned and said, "But what if I don't?"
"Oh, you're going to," she said with an evil grin. "You're boyfriend's going to be there."
"The imaginary one," I asked with sarcasm. "Because I broke it off with him a while ago."
"You know exactly who I'm talking about," she said, still sporting that evil grin. "She knows who I'm talking about," she whispered into Kayla's ear.
"She does know," Kayla said and mocked Shay's evil grin.
"Are you two forming some kind of secret alliance against me," I asked with mock horror.
"Maybe," they both said simultaneously.
I sighed. We were just down the road from our school now. Shay's house, which was the closest, was about 10 minutes away from school. I pulled into Mosley High School's parking lot a few minutes later.
I parked in our usual spot in the far end of the parking lot and shut of the engine.
"Ready for another day of pure boredom," Kayla asked as we gathered our stuff and stepped out of my car.
"Of course," I said with fake enthusiasm. I joined her by the trunk of my car and waited for Shay. "It is Friday," I pointed out happily.
"Yep," Shay called from inside the car. "A good day for a party."
I sighed. Shay was always the last one. She always had something else to do right before we walked into the school. It was either she was going to check her makeup or sometimes even re-apply it. Whatever it is, she takes forever doing it.
"Ready girlies," Shay asked, shutting my car door and sauntering over to us.
"I'm impressed," Kayla said as we turned and headed towards the school's entrance. "It would usually take you at least another 5 minutes to do whatever it is you do."
