Chapter 12
Cole
Chasing the One I Love
As soon as the words came out of my mouth I regretted it. I wasn't suppose to say anything about it. He took a step towards me and I took a step back. His hands were in fists and his knuckles were pure white. He looked at me and shook his head.
"Who told you about the game?"
I have never been so scared in my life before.
"I-I..."
He let out a humorless laugh.
"Fine don't say anything. I hope you enjoy London."
With that he walked away. I watched his figure fade away. A tear escaped from myt eye and slid down my face. I could taste the salty taste in my mouth. I put my back against the wall and fell to the ground crying. I put my head in my hands and sobbed my heart out.
I walked away from her and out the building. I ran away from everything. Away from the girl I love and the place I grown to call home. I ran down the street and and around the corner. I kept on running until I was miles away from the school and her. I came to a stop and saw a diner down the street. I walked over to it and looked inside.
There was a couple and an elderly woman. I walked inside and took a seat at the lunch bar. The elderly woman came over and gave me a smile. I gave a small smile back.
"What can I get you, sugar?"
"Coffee, please."
"No problem," she said walking over to the coffee pot and pouring me a cup.
She walked back over and put the cup down.
"What's wrong, sugar," she asked looking at me with a small smile.
"I maybe just lost the love of my life and ruined everything with her. Oh, and she is moving to London to go to school there, but other then that nothing is wrong."
"Well what are you doing here?"
"Huh?"
"Go after her. I have no clue what you are doing here, but you should go after that girl. If you love her enough you will chase after her. And maybe just maybe she will forgive you and you will have your happy ending."
"Thanks...," I said trailing off because I didn't know her name.
"Marley."
"Well thank you Marley,'' I said taking my wallet out so I could pay.
She put her hand out and I looked at her with a confused expression.
"On the house and now go chase that girl."
I said thank you one more and ran out the door. By the time I got back, it was midnight. I knew Brooklyn went to sleep at ten so I just went to my room. When I got there, Joe was sitting on his bed with his arms across his chest, glaring at me. I let out a sigh and looked at him. He got up from his spot and walked over to me.
He raised his hand and punched me in the jaw. I stumbled a little, but didn't fall. I brought my hand up to my jaw, but didn't say anything. He stepped back from me and I took a step back.
"Why didn't you tell me you were using my sister?"
"I wasn't using her,'' I whispered.
"Then what? What were you doing with my sister then? Because it seems that you are doing the same thing my father did to my mom."
