SABRINA’S POV
Who would’ve actually thought that I’ll be happy in school? I got out of car as the morning breeze hit my skin.
Feeling so energized and fresh, I greeted other students a very good morning while making my way to my locker.
“Someone looks very happy?” I looked to my side and saw Mandy holding out a cup of coffee from starbucks.
“Who?” I mockingly turned my head in search for someone then looked at her again teasingly.
“Ha ha! Very funny sab” she smiled then rolled her eyes “here you go.” She handed me the coffee and I took it. Who would ever refuse a starbucks coffee? That’s right- NO ONE!
“So what’s up?” she asked.
“Nothing.” I plainly answered but knowing Mandy, she wouldn’t just drop it as easy as that.
“You know I’m not buying that.”
I sigh then started telling her everything “Fine, I told Avan I like him.” I looked down braising myself from her exaggerated response. “You what?!” she yelled stopping me from walking then making me face her.
“I told him I like him.”
“I heard that but do you mean it?”
“Mands! You know I won’t say it if it ain’t true.” Then I started walking, a little bit pissed about her question. Mandy’s my bestfriend and by now she should know that I wouldn’t tell someone I like him and don’t mean it. It’s like she doesn’t know me.
Mandy caught up with me “I know, I know. I’m sorry. That’s not what I meant.” I stopped walking then faced her “No, I’m sorry, for being so dramatic and sensitive.”
“ Okay” she paused then grabbed my arm and started walking again “All is forgiven, now, tell me everything.” Her voice was once again eager for details.
“As I’ve said, I told Avan I liked him and ..” I paused “he said he like me back.”
“There’s nothing shocking about what he told you, it was pretty obvious actually. So are you official?” Mandy is such an eager beaver and how come she noticed it but I didn’t? Am I really that dumb?
“No! We’re still just friends. So no one must know about this okay?” My tone was very stressed, what happened to my fresh morning?
“yaptidoo.” She answered in a three-year old voice.
“I’m serious Mands!” she nodded then raised her right hand. Then I continued “Well, I felt guilty so I told Mr. Cinderella that I like another guy”
“So you don’t like him anymore?” Mandy questioned curiously.
“Of course I do! I also told him that I still like him and I’m a little bit confused.” Suddenly the awkward feeling struck me again. I just don’t understand why everything has to be this complicated.
“So what did he tell you?” mandy’s voice shook me out of my thoughts but didn’t do a great job shrugging me off this weird feeling.
“He told me that he’s okay with it. And you know what’s confusing? He told me that I should open my eyes, as well as my heart.”
