My eyes stopping on that last word with fear. Vampire. That's impossible. Vampires aren't real. If you die, you stay dead. You can't just come back to life. At this moment I was hesitating over every thing I thought I believed in. Then, I hopped in my car and drove to Collins house. I sort of made a wild guess about where his house was. Cailey said he lived outside of town, so that's where I went. I found a house. A house. Singular. It has to be his. I stopped the car and processed things for a minute. Then I ran up to the steps and right before I knocked. The huge hard wood door opened, with Collin in my sight.
"H-how did you know I was here?" I stutter out. He walks closer to me. "Don't come any c-closer!" I shout.
"Listen, I know what your thinking. It's ok."
"No it's not! I did research and.." I stop and look at him. "And I know what you are." He doesn't looked surprised at all.
"Then say it, Eliza. What. Am. I?" We take a deep long stare.
"Your a vampire aren't you?"
He looks at me blank. "I know you must have a lot of questions. Meet me at Oak Grove Diner tomorrow at 11. You can ask anything you want." I nod slowly. I leave his house in shock. I go home and lay in bed for awhile thinking about my options. Should I go to the diner? Maybe I should, just to clear the air. ~
After a nice long sleep, since it was Saturday, I went to meet him.
"Ok, ask me anything."
"How long have you been like this?"
"I'm 185 years old." I stare blankly again.
"Ok, when were you turned?"
"When I was 16 years old, 1847."
"How were you turned?"
"It was an ex of mine. She seduced me, bit me, gave me her blood to heal me, and then snapped my neck." Gruesome.
"How do you become a vampire?"
"You have to die with vampire blood in your system. You don't have to be bit."
"Do you live off human blood? How many vampires are in Hattiesburg?"
"No, I don't." He said. "I live off of blood bags and animals. Rabbits, deer, etc. As far as I know, there aren't very many vampires here. That's why I came here."
"I have one more question. Are vampires the only things that exist."
"No." My heart skipped a beat. "There are werewolf's, hybrids, witches, doppelgängers, human-vampire hybrids."
"What are those?"
"When a human and vampire have a baby, it's a vampire and human. Half. It eats blood and runs fast, but it grows like a human, but faster. Have I answered all of your questions?"
"Yes." After we said our goodbyes I went to hang out with Cailey. We were going to see Ashley in he hospital. When we got there and signed in, we went to her room.
When we walked in, there was no one in the bed. Laying on the floor was a nurse, a bleeding nurse. I yell out the door. "We need a nurse!" A couple nurses come rushing in and pick up the clearly lifeless body. They take her into an operating room. We wait in the waiting room for a few minutes until a doctor come out. We both stand up quickly. "Where's Ashley?" Cailey asks.
"Ashley has not been seen since 7:00 this morning." I looked at the digital clock, 7:45. That means they haven't checked in on her in 45 minutes. "Dr. Witman has been drained of blood." I knew exactly what this was. After the doctor got done talking to us I stormed to Collins house and began banging on the door. "You said there were no other vampires!"
"I thought there weren't but when I saw Ashley bitten. I was confused." He said. He sounded like he was telling the truth. "I wasn't the one who bit her."
"Collin, she's not just bit, I think she turned." He looked sincerely shocked. I then left him with those words.
Collins p.o.v
After Eliza left I turned around to see my long lost sister, who was hiding behind my door.
"Oops." She said.
"Seriously? What happened to keeping it subtle?!"
"Sorry, I guess I got carried away." I swear my sister is the hugest pain in the ass!
"Hey, also did you have to tell her about what we are?"
"Um, excuse me but she found out on her own. I don't know how, but she did. Why are you even here?" I ask annoyed.
"Same as you, coming back home."
"You aren't the small town girl, you like big towns. Why not go to New Orleans, Paris, Sacramento?"
"Ugh, Collin. Been there, done that." We both owned this house so I agreed to let her stay, as long as she didn't go near Cailey or Eliza. Especially Eliza. ~
