Kelsey's P.O.V.
This time, when we got to our destination, I did not throw up. But I did fall. And I took Draco down with me.
"You okay?" He asked me, looking over my shoulder. I nodded.
"What is this place?" I asked. I was in a large room in a castle. Candles were floating by the ceiling and four long tables with corresponding flags filled the room.
"This is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Great Hall, to be exact. It's a dining room. Each table is for each of the four houses, named for the four founders. I am in Gryffindor, house for the brave and the loyal." Harry told me, pointing to a Red flag with a lion on it.
"I'm in Slytherin. House for the ambitious." Draco said, pointing at a green flag with a silver snake on it.
"Kelsey, glad to see you made the journey alright." I turned to see Dumbledore standing in the doorway.
"I did, but why am I here?" I asked.
"We are now at phase two of Project Muggle. We are going to try to teach you to use magic." Dumbledore answered as if it were obvious. Project Muggle? I didn't even know that that was what I was part of.
"But professor you can't-" Draco started to protest but Dumbledore raised a hand to silence him.
"It has never been done before. However, muggle born witches and wizard pop up seemingly without rhyme or reason. Therefore, if there is any magical blood in her history at all we may just be able to teach her to use it." Dumbledore explained as he stepped towards me.
"Wait a second, do I get a say in all this?" I asked impatiently.
"Of course. How do toy feel about all this, Kelsey?" Dumbledore turned to me and suddenly I was nervous.
"Uh, I guess I could give it a try." I replied, feeling dumb. How hard could it be? I mean, wave a wand and say some magic words and poof! something incredible happens. On the other hand...
"The first step is to take you to Ollivander's shop. He's the wand craftsman here. He will get you situated with the appropriate wand and we will go from there." Dumbledore told me as he offered his arm. Begrudgingly, I took it. I squeezed my eyes shut and felt my stomach churn as we teleported or whatever it was to the shop.
"Hello there, what can I do for you?" a man with sporadic white hair and a brown vest asked from behind stacks of boxes. The room was huge and there were stacks of what looked like shoe boxes everywhere. There must have been thousands of boxes. I couldn't believe it.
"I- I need a wand... I guess." I told him nervously. I turned back to glance at Dumbledore and he gave me a reassuring smile.
"Well, miss, why don't you give this a try? Ten inches of oak with a unicorn tail in its core." He said, handing me what looked like an engraved stick.
"Uh, Abrah Cadabra!" I said, waving it around aimlessly.
"Whoa there, kiddo, don't try so hard. The wand chooses the wizard, not the other way around." Ollivander told me, taking the wand out of my hands gently.
"But I'm not a wizard." I answered. He stared at me blankly for a moment.
"Dumbledore?" he asked, turning to him.
"We are trying to see if a muggle can be taught magic." he replied simply.
"But how can she learn magic if no wand ever chooses her?" Ollivander asked.
"We will try." Dumbledore answered sternly and Ollivander simply nodded before moving a stack of boxes over to me.
*********
"This is stupid, it's never going to work." I sighed, sitting on a pile nearby.
"We just have to keep looking." Dumbledore assured me.
"But what if there is no wand for me because I'm not a wizard?" I asked him. He looked concerned and I wondered if he had considered this before beginning this quest.
"Ollivander, can you try that wand over there please?" Dumbledore asked, pointing to a box in the far corner of the room.
"Of course, professor." He said and he hurried over to grab it. The box was dusty and the cover stuck a little when I tried to lift it.
"Black maple wood, twelve inches, dragon heart string." Ollivander told me as I lifted it out of the box.
"What should I say?" I asked Dumbledore.
"Say 'lumos.'" He told me. I nodded.
I focused really hard and held the wand the way they had shown me. Then, I pointed it into the air and whispered, "lumos". Slowly, a little white light began to glow from the end of the wand.
