*Draco*
I flew. I flew on my Firebolt for the first time since I got here and I flew straight to Kelsey. I flew right up to her window and knocked.
"Draco? What are you doing here? How did you get up there?" She looked shocked and confused and maybe even a little scared. But I just smiled at her.
"Come with me. I have something to show you." I said, taking her hand and pulling her onto the back of my broom.
Carefully, she eyed me and my broomstick. For a second I wondered exactly what she was seeing. Muggles didn't always see things clearly. Not when they didn't understand what they were seeing.
"But- This is impossible." She whispered.
"Hold on tight. I wouldn't want you to fall." I replied, trying to put off the inveitable at this point. A wave of fear washed over me.
"Draco. What is happening? How is this happening? You're breaking every law of physics. This is impossible." Kelsey was full of questions, but she did as I asked and wrapped her arms around my waist. I felt butterflies soar through my stomach as she did.
"For you it is. But not for me. I have a secret I've been hiding from you." I chose my words carefully. I didn't want to make this any harder than it had to be. The last thing I wanted was to make her uncomfortable.
"This doesn't have anything to do with your talking hat by any chance, does it?" She asked, staring at me like I scared her. That made me nervous. The breeze picked up and I flew higher to avoid the wind. She gasped as I did and I noticed that she was looking down at the city below us.
"It does actually. You see, I- well. I'm not like you." I stuttered. Suddenly, I was at a loss for words.
"Okay.... I don't really understand what you're trying to tell me. Actually, ever since you got here there's not much I understand anymore." Kelsey confessed, holding me tighter as I began to fly faster. I knew I wouldn't let her fall but it felt good to distract her with the flight rather than have her focus on my words. I was never really all that good at words.
"Have you ever done something that you don't understand? Something you couldn't control? Because I have." I started. I was at a loss for how to explain what I really wanted to say.
"Uh, I guess so. Like right now?" Kelsey looked at me and I knew this was my last chance to get it right.
"Kind of. You see, I do things sometimes that are beyond my control. And I'm in the process of learning how to control it." I felt like an idiot trying to tell her what I meant.
"Aren't we all?" She asked. Merlin, she was so smart. Maybe smarter than Hermione.
" Kelsey, I am a wizard." I told her, knowing that I was breaking every rule out there.
"What?"
"I'm a wizard. I have magic. And a wand. And a broomstick." I tried to use tangible items to describe something that was not at all tangible. She moved away from me a little on the broomstick and suddenly looked terrified to realize that she was hundreds of feet above the ground with only me to protect her. I started to head back to her house.
"I don't believe it." She stated. Muggles had a tendency to ignore things they didn't understand.
"How can I make you see the truth?" I offered, wanting her to be part of my world. She just shook her head, tears filling her eyes.
"You can't. This is crazy. You're crazy. I don't know how you did this but it needs to stop." She started to pick a fight with me and I knew I was done for. I brought her back to her window, though because I knew that making a muggle see the wizarding world was a task I was incapable of performing.
"Kelsey. Please. Listen to me. I wouldn't lie to you." I pleaded with her. I couldn't for the life of me place why, but I needed her to know. I wanted her to understand.
"No. Get away from me." She snapped, climbing back through her window. She was crying now and I felt a pang of guilt.
"Kelsey!" I shouted after her. I wanted to take her back to my world. I wanted to hold her close. I wanted to do anything to make her see.
"If you ever come near me again I swear to God I'll call the police!" She screamed as she slammed her window shut and left me there hovering in the darkness.
Feeling lost, I flew back to the apartment I was staying in. The wind felt colder now. I was hurt and angry. How could she just dismiss everything that defined who I was? I thought she cared about me. I guess the paths of muggles and wizards were not meant to cross.
When I got there, I was met by the Minister of Magic as well as Professor Dumbledore.
"Draco Malfoy. You have disobeyed me." Dumbledore stated. He didn't look angry. He simply looked disappointed. That made it so much worse.
"Draco. What did you do?" The Minister asked me. I knew that I was set up for failure no matter what I said.
"I- I fell in love with a muggle."
