Kelsey's P.O.V.

When Tom kissed me, I could almost swear I knew him. But something just wasn't quite right about it. It seemed... Familiar. And yet, I knew that this was someone that I had never met. When the kiss ended, I pulled away and stared at him.

"Are you sure your name is Tom?" I asked suddenly, surprising even myself.

"Uh- I um... What?" He seemed startled. I supposed it was because I had asked a stupid question.

"Sorry, I don't know why I asked that." I apologized quickly.

"It's okay. It was just... unexpected." He told me.

"Why am I here?" I asked, trying to change the subject.

"I- I don't know. I thought when they- well, never mind that." He was stuttering through his words, clearly hiding something.

"When they what?" I snapped, getting a little angry that no one would tell me anything.

"Kelsey, have you ever felt like there was something you should know- that you used to know- but for the life of you you just couldn't remember it?" He said slowly, as if trying to say without saying. Strangely enough, he was describing exactly how I was feeling in this moment.

"Uh, yeah. Right now actually. Why?" I needed to be careful. This "Tom" could be up to something.

"Well, it's not your fault. It's them. They did something to you. I can't tell you what." He was glancing around the room as if sure that any second someone unwelcome would walk in and tear us apart.

"Why not?" I demanded. Enough with the secrets. What is happening to me and where is my family?

"They'd kill you." He said it simply, as if trying to downplay it. That did not prevent my eyes from growing wide and my heart from skipping a beat. Who was this Tom and why was he my protector?

"But- I- How- Where do you fit into all of this?" I settled on asking, even though my mind was spinning. I felt safe with Tom for some reason. I was terrified of the thought of him betraying me.

"I'm with you, Kelsey. I am on your side." He reached out and hugged me awkwardly. It was weird, but I wanted to show appreciation. So I patted him on the back.

"If you love that girl, Draco, you will step back." I heard a booming voice call and suddenly the professor and the minister were back.

"Draco, do as he asks." The Professor called gently.

"Tom, who is Draco?" I asked, feeling confused and hurt.

"Uh, me." He said, looking down.

"Who are you? What else have you lied about?" I felt tears sting my eyes. Through watery vision, I saw the minister grab T-Dr- what's-his-face by both his arms.

The professor did the same to me.

"Did you tell her anything, you little rat?" I heard the minister hiss into what's-his-face's ear.

"No. No, I swear I didn't." He called out. He was crying now.

"You. You, girl. Does he tell the truth?" The minister barked at me, looking like a wild dog. Great. I always had to be the one to answer.

"Um, I don't- I mean, I-" I stuttered, unsure what the right answer was.

"Kelsey! Kelsey, please! Tell them I didn't!" He cried. I looked between his desperate, pleading features and the angry, vicious features of the minister.

"Who are you?" I asked. Everyone stopped for a moment. The minister looked confused. The professor looked almost proud.

"I- My name is Draco Malfoy." He told me, hanging his head as if he figured this confession would lead to my distrust of him.

Then, something clicked. Draco Malfoy. The transfer with the green sweater and the grey eyes. The one who knew nothing about music. The one who was insane. Who believed that he was actually a wizard. That magic existed. The one who had told me he loved me just before everything had changed.

I had to keep my sudden realization to myself. I could trust Draco and only Draco.

"He told me nothing, sir." I fund myself saying after swallowing hard. Dumbledore squeezed my shoulder. I looked up at him and I could have sworn that he winked at me.

"Do not lie to me, girl!" The minister shouted, pointing what looked like an old stick at Draco's neck. Oh! Not a stick. A wand. A magic wand. Sadly, not even the weirdest thing I saw today.

Then, it happened. I don't know what. Maybe it was nothing, it happened so quickly. There was a loud noise and they were just... gone. I could not say where they went, but they left nothing behind. It was as if they had never existed at all.

"Professor! Where did they go? Is Draco okay?" I cried, feeling confused.

"My dear child, please don't worry. They are just fine. For now. They simply apparated. What will happen now, I cannot say. But we will follow them." Dumbledore cooed, trying to calm me. I cried even harder.

But then, he grabbed me and told me to hold on. A loud cracking noise filled my ears and suddenly I had the horrible feeling that I was about to throw up. And just as the world became clear, I did.
