The Secret

      We sat there eating our pasta in silence. The silence was an awkward silence. No one really knew what to say. Mom finally broke the silence by saying "I'm really glad your here". She smiled at me. "I'm glad she is here too" Kevin said. "It's all thanks to Winter" I said, looking over and her at and smiling. "It wasn't to hard to find you" Winter said.

     When, we were done the maid came a took our plates. I wanted to help her clean up but Winter told me that is was her job. Winter ran upstairs, dragging me along.

    We sat on her bed talking about her life, mine, celebrity gossip. In till it got dark. She wanted us to go to bed early because we were going to wake up early tomorrow morning. "I'm going to take a shower. But, you can go brush your teeth. There's some extra tooth brushes in the family bathroom" she said. "Okay, where that" I asked her. "Down the hall" she told me, she got up and walked into the bathroom. I heard the water turn on and then I went to go find the bathroom.

   I was walking through they're all trying to find the bathroom. It wasn't easy, like her house the hallway was enormous. There weren't any lights on. "Looking for something" a low voice asked. The person cause me to jump. "Who's that" I asked, squinting me eyes to see who it was. "I'm Lucas, but you can call me Luke. I'm Winter's step-brother oh wait, and your's too" he said. "Can you turn the lights on" I asked him. "Yeah sure" he said. He flipped the lights and I had to adjust my eyes. I could see him now. At diner I didn't really get a good look at him.  He had dark hair and olive colored skin. "Thank you" I told him. "You're welcome. Now what were you looking for" he asked. "The family bathroom" I told him. "Okay, follow me" he said.

    "Here it is" he said opening the door for me. He let me walk in first and then he walked in. "Why did you need this anyway" he asked me. "Winter told me there would be tooth brushes in here"I told him. "Oh okay. What color" he asked. "What do you have" I asked. "Pink, red, blue, purple, black, and silver" he showed me. "Wow those are really weird colors" I said. He laughed and said "Which one of them do you want". "Silver" I told him. He handed me the silver one and he handed me tooth paste. "Thanks" I told him. "Anytime" he said, walking out.

    I was sitting on Winter's pink carpeted floor, waiting for her to come out of the shower. She had been in there for over a hour and she kept sing. A couple minutes later she finally came out. "Hey" she said. She was wrapped in a black towel. "Hey. Where should I put my stuff" I asked her, lifting up my tooth brush and paste. "In my bathroom" she said. I got up and walking to the bathroom but, before going in I said "By the way, nice singing" I said, grinning. Her face turn a deep red.

    "Okay so tonight you in a guest room all by yourself or you can sleep in my room with me! It will be just like a sleepover. So where do you want to sleep" she asked. I knew she wanted me to sleep in here with her, I didn't want to upset her. "Yeah, I'll sleep in here. It sounds like fun" I said, smiling.

    We were laying in her king size bed about to go to sleep. "What do you think it going on at my house" I asked. "I don't know but, I do know everyone is looking for you. They have private search team" she told me. "When did you find this out" I asked, angrily. "Yesterday" she said. "Don't lie to me" I yelled, I sat up in Winter's bed. "Okay, fine. I found out before I found you. Just stop yelling" she said. "Stop yelling? You couldn't have told me this sooner? I have friends, family, and freaking strangers looking for me and you think it isn't a good idea to tell me? God, some sister you are" I said, I got up and walked into the hall.

   She came right after me. "Do you think it's safe for you to be calling your dad? The guy who kidnapped you and came after my mom? My family spent years of hiding and moving. Do you think he won't come after you if you call him" she asked. We were both yelling back and forth. Yes, I think it is safe. He has changed" I yelled. "How do you know? You haven't seen him back then" she yelled. "Yeah well neither did you" I spat "How the hell do you know what he was like. For all we know your mom could be lying". "Mom would never do such thing" she said. "Then, how do you know my dad would" I asked. She didn't say anything. "That's what I thought. You don't know. You think you know everything about this situation, but you don't okay? So before you say nasty things about my family, think twice" I spat.

    I was walking down the hall not knowing where I was going. I found the main stair case and walked down it. I opened the main door and step outside, letting the cool night air refresh me. I closed the door and sat on the steps, thinking about what to do. My thinking was interrupted by voices. The where close, but I couldn't see a thing. It was too dark. I got up and walked towards the voices. It was a voice I had never heard talking to one that sounded like Kevin. I could hear what they were saying. They were yelling back and forth like, Winter and I just did. "Do you think it was a good idea to have her here" asked the unknown voice. "I don't know. But, look how happy mom is" Kevin pointed out. "I don't care. This is going to ruin everything" the unknown voice yelled. "Jessie, be quiet. Your going to wake everyone up" Kevin whispered. So that unknown voice was Jessie's. "This conversation is over" Jessie said. I heard the crunching of leaves and footsteps coming my way. I knew I had to hide or I was going to be caught. I was frozen though I didn't know what to do. I couldn't move. I was so confused and the tone in Jessie's voice had scared me so much.
