The Bite

The call

    I was going through the woods trying to find him. What if he died? I hope he didn't leave. I had so many question still to ask him. What if he burned? As all this thoughts went through my head, I start running faster and faster. Trying not to run into the trees was hard. 

   My body smacked against a tree. Which is weird because that tree hadn't been there before. It was a large old tree. Maybe this is where he is staying. I felt for a button. Then, I stopped. Was I going crazy? Why did I even care what happened? I don't care I told myself. 

    I turned away from the tree and started to walk. But, I couldn't help the curiously. I turned back around and felt all over the tree. Just as i thought I didn't find anything, I found something. It was a little black button. I slowly brought my hand towards it. 

    My phone started buzzing. I pulled it out of my back pocket and looked at the screen. It was a number I had never seen before. I hit the answer button and pulled it slowly to my ear. I was so nervous about everything from last night and alittle bit of today. 

    "Hey, where are you" Winter asked through the phone. "How did you get my number" I asked. "I took it off your phone" she said. "Oh okay. Well um, I went for a walk. Where are you" I asked. "In my car waiting for you" she said. "Okay, I'll be there in about 15 minutes" I told her and then hung up. 

   I finally got to her car and opened the door to the passenger side. I plopped down on the sit hard and closed the door. She looked at me and finally said "There's something you're not telling me". "Yeah, well there's alot of things you don't tell me" I snapped back. "Okay, I'll just let you cool down". She started the car and we left.

   We got to a store and got out of the car. "What is this store" I asked. "It's local" she said. We walked up to the front and she held the door open for me. "Thanks" I muttered. I stepped inside and inhaled the sweet scent. "Come on, we have alot of shopping to do" Winter told me. "Do you like this" she asked me. I looked over at the red shirt. "It goes well with your skin tone" I said. "It's not for me silly. It's for you" she said, rolling her eyes. "I don't need clothes" I said. "Well, then what are you going to wear" she asked me. "Uh, I don't know. I guess it would make sense to buy clothes. But, I don't have money and I wouldn't want to take yours" I told her. "Please, let me buy you clothes" she begged. I thought about it for awhile and then finally said "Fine, but never again". "Can make any promises" I heard her mutter, but I didn't say anything.

    We dropped all the bags on Winter's bed with the help of Kevin. "Wow, you girls brought alot of stuff" he said. "Autumn is going to be staying here" Winter said. I didn't realize till now what am I going to do? Do I say here or do I leave and go back home? I would feel bad leaving everyone. I mean after Winter brought me these clothes and she think I'm staying. Kevin thinks so too. But, what about Emily? She is basically my child. I have raised her most her life. Dad was never around. Maybe if I could just get her and bring her back her. I should call her. Ask her how she is doing. "Want to go for a walk" Winter asked, snapping me out of the thought. "Yeah, just give me a second" I said, getting up and walking to the bathroom. 

  I closed the door behind me and took my phone out of my back pocket. I dialed my house and waited for an answer. "Hello" a little girl's voice said. "Em" I asked. "Autumn" she asked.  I started to cry just hearing her voice. "It's me, Em. I'm so sorry I left. I miss you so much" I sobed through the phone. "Please some home" she begged. "Soon" I said. I heard some sound on the other line. "Em" I asked. "Autumn" a low voice said. I got goosebumbs. I knew that voice, it was my dads.

   "Autumn, are you there" he asked. "Y-yeah" I stuttered. "Where are you" he asked. "Don't worry about it" I told him. I heard a growl from phone. "Tell me" he spat. "I have to go, goodbye" I said, I quickly hit end on the phone. I shoved the phone back in my pocket.

  "Okay I'm finished" I announce, walking out of the bathroom and into Winter's room. "What were you doing" she looks at me curiously. "Oh just using the bathroom" I say trying to make me seem not guilty for lying. "Sure" she says, not believing me. I throw myself on her bed. "There's this party tonight" she says, looking over at me with hope. "Uh party" I ask. "Yeah it's going to be so much fun! Can we go" she asks. "You can go. I just got in, I'm not really in the mood for a party. Maybe next time" I tell her trying not to look at her because she is giving me her puppy dog face. "Please" she begs. I think about it. I mean I guess I should go. What could go wrong. 

   Winter and I were getting ready for the party. Doing our hair, makeup, getting dressed. "I'm ready" she snnouces. I look up from my makeup to look at her. "Wow you look so pretty" I said. She was wearing a hot pink dress, her hair was straighten and her makeup was dark on the eyes, but light on the lips. "Thanks now hurry up. I want to go" she said. I roll my eyes turning back to my makeup. 

  I sat in the car, waiting for it to heat up. Winter was inside, she had forgotten her purse. I waited in the car. It was dark so I was kind of scared. I mean everything last night, it could happen again. He could be here waiting. I didn't want to take the chances so I locked the car doors. I pushed my seat back, closing my eyes. I turn the radio on, blasting it. 

   I could have sworn I heard a sound coming from outside of the car. I closed my eyes harder, trying to block off all noises. My back pocket buzzes. I get creeped out for a second, but then I realize my phone is in there. I peek one eye open at my phone. It was from Winter. She wrote "Let me in the car and stop blasting the music". I sit up from my sit. Look out all the windows and see Winter standing outside. I unlock the car door and she gets in. "Sorry" I mumbled. "Whatever let's go" she said, rolling her eyes and starting the car.

I know I haven't written in awhile. Sorry:/ I have been busy with the other stories. But I'm going to keep trying to keep up with the writing for this story. Vote and Comment! thanks for reading(:
