A white haired boy was slowly dragging his bleeding body, holding a unconscious girl in his arm, through a dark alleyway. It was late at night, after midnight. The streets were empty and the windows were dark. Only a few were bright. Probably students who studied or people who worked late. They, too, were students. But for them, their life had completely changed. They could no longer have fun like they used to, they could no longer freely hang out with their friends.
As they reached the end of the alleyway, where a wall was preventing them from moving forward, the boy fell down. He couldn't walkany more. He needed rest. He gently put the girl down and took off his jacket. He put it over her as a blanket. It wasn't a cold night. From time to time light breeze would blow. He hugged her and closed his eyes. All he wanted was for her to be alright. She was barely breathing. Maybe they hadn't succeeded and she was dying. Even if she did turn into a half ghoul, the monster she hated most, at least she would be alive. At this point all he could do was wait and pray for the GFH-03 to work. GFH-03 was the third and final adaption of the experiment. The first two failed. Ghoul from human, GFH-03 could turn almost every human to ghoul. It was created as a virus and maybe a weapon.
Kaneki sighed and slowly started to fall asleep, still worried about (y/n).
A few hours later slight light shone on them. It was the rising sun. The girl slightly moved her fingers. She felt someone's warm breath on her neck and a pain in her stomach. She was hungry. Really hungry. She opened her eyes. Her vision was slightly blurred. She waited a few minutes until it adjusted. After she could finally see clearly she saw Kaneki hugging her. His eyes moved until they opened. As they did his eyes widened. A tear slipped from his left eye.He hugged the girl tight. Her bangs were covering parts of her face.
''You're.. you're alive'' he whispered.
She nodded and slightly smiled but her smile quickly disappeared.
''Y/n... you..-''
''I know'' she cut him off ''I'm a monster now. But maybe not all monsters are badand not all monsters are truly monsters.You're not, Hatori isn't, so I won't be too'' she said and smiled again, turning to look at him. He kissed her soft lips and looked away.
''But then, are you okay?''
''I should be the one asking you this... you came to save me all by yourself''
''I'm fine. I healed over the night'' he replied with a smile.
They got up from the ground, holding hands.
''Let's go home'' (y/n) said smiling. Kaneki nodded, also smiling at her. She was beautiful and nothing about her had changed. They walked back in silence, happy that they could both go back.

''Y/n!'' a short little girl yelled from the door as she ran towards her older sister.
''Hey'' she said as the little girl hugged her. She was crying.
''You're back! You're alive! Are you okay?'' she said through tears.
''I'm fine. Are you?''
''Yep!''
Kaneki smiled at the sight of the two sisters happily hugging and crying from happiness. Suddenly (y/n) stopped.
''But... I'm hungry'' she said.
''We have some more noodles!'' Hatori happily said.
''No.. I'm like you now'' (y/n) said, looking down.
''Really?'' Hatori said with surprise ''Then.. are you okay with it?''
''I am. As long as I have you two. Now give me some food god damn it'' she said as she growled at the last part.
They all laughed and walked inside. Hatori took some of the meat Kaneki had gived her before and gave it to her sister. She took it, kind of disgusted but slowly ate it.
''By the way, are you and onee-chan dating?'' Hatori asked.
(y/n) choked on her meat as her face turned bright red. Kaneki blushed too.
''N-no we're n-'' she started to say, still choking.
''Yes, we are'' Kaneki said, hugging her.
''Are we?''
''Yes''
''Yayyyyy!'' Hatori yelled. The three of them laughed.
ONE MONTH LATER
It has been a month since (y/n)'s turning. Everything has been fine, no incidents, no fights, no suffering. Maybe one day her father's gang would certainly come back but they were prepared. (Y/n) has been training to fight and using her kagune, and so had Hatori. They had the best teacher in the world. For this month, Kaneki and (y/n)'s relationship had went a little bit further. No, it's just longer kisses. (y/n) would no longer get bullied since she had Kaneki by her side.
At this point, their lives were perfect. Both of them had switched schools so they could study medicine.
TWO WEEKS EARLIER
(Y/n) and Kaneki were sitting on a bench in a park, drinking coffee. It was a peaceful evening.
''You know.. back then, when I saved you, I made up my mind'' Kaneki said.
''Hm? About what?''
''I want to study medicine and maybe one day create an antidote or maybe even a cure for GFH-03''
''That's an amazing idea Kaneki!'' she said.
''But I'll have to switch schools. Will you be fine by yourself?''
''No. I'm coming with you, idiot'' she said, smiling ''I would love to help!''
''Thank you, (y/n)'' he said and quickly kissed her lips. She smiled at him and so did he. They sat on a bench in a park, holding cups of coffee, smiling at each other.
Little did they know, there was a spy always following their every step.
That's right. On that night, the night that he had saved her he had finally made up his mind. He would definitely save humanity.
