(A/N the image above is how I picture Autumn to look. Wattpad won't allow you to attach more than one picture to the chapter so i will try to post a picture of a different character each chapter.)
......................................................
Me and Jailen are about to step into the cafeteria but then I stop her before we actually do.
"Look, I don't want to talk about this infront of anyone ok? If you just come to my house after school I would explain everything, I promise." I plead to her, hoping that she could put her curiosity aside for right now.
"Ok, i'll do that for you. Just know you have a lot of explaining to do missy." She tells me as a smile creep up on her face. I give her a smile back before I link our arms together and walk into the lunch room.
Once we walk in, we get into the lunch line to collect our food. I don't get much due to the fact I'm trying to maintain my weight. I only pick up a fruit cup, a sub sandwich, and a box of apple juice.
Jailen and I get to the end of the line and swip our ID cards to show that we got lunch for today.
"Come on everyone's waiting for us." She tells me as she points to our table.
By everyone she means Janisa, Wayne and her boyfriend Dameon.
We met Janisa our first year of high school. She was the new kid that no one knew. Jailen and I befriended her when we all got partnered up for a project. Janisa is the athletic type who really cares about her family.
She had one boyfriend in the tenth grade, but they broke up when she found out he cheated on her. She didn't really care, because Janisa has built this brick wall around her. She doesn't really show emotion unless it involves her family.
As for Wayne the story is completely different. Jailen knew him before she moved from Detroit. They were never really friends back then, more like acquaintances. When he came here him and Jailen grew close because they both had similar backgrounds.
Now see, Wayne is the kind of boy who's laidback. He keeps to himself unless someone messes with the people he care for. Wayne doesn't have such a big family so he appreciates the people he do have.
As for Dameon I don't know much. Jailen keeps his personal life secret. She said that it's too personal and not many people know about it, and that he feels really ashamed. I never bugged her about it, because i understand where Dameon is coming from. He doesn't want many people knowing his business and I respect that completely.
"Hey guys" I greet a I pull out a chair and sit down at the table next to Wayne.
They all say back some type a greeting, before jumping into conversation.
"Hey Autumn i've been meaning to tell you that my uncle works at Jefferson's Writing Co. I talked to him about you and he pulled some strings he got you an interview to become an intern." My eyes grow wide in shock at Janisa words.
"Oh my god are you serious?" I question while squealing. Janisa laughs at my reaction while nodding her head up and down.
"Yes i'm serious. The interview is on Friday, so they can have the weekend to make their decision." I jump up and run give her a big hug. This cause a few people to give me a funny look but i'm to happy to care.
For the rest of the lunch period i bug Janisa about all the details for the interview, which everyone laughs at.
She tells me that I have to bring some examples of my work to the interview and also a signature from all my teachers along with my grades.
Me and Janisa breaks out of our conversation once the bell ring, indicating the end of lunch. Everyone gets up, and start walking to the double doors to exit the cafeteria.
"Oh my god Janisa I am so excited. I can not believe you did this for me." I say while giving her a sideways hug. We're walking down the hallway together except Wayne because his next class is on the other side of the school than ours.
Janisa starts laughing at my excitement, "it's no big deal, you know i'd do anything for you." She tells me in the middle of a chuckle.
"It really is a big dea-" I start, but once i see the scene infront of me all the thoughts in my head are taken away and i'm lost for words.
Trey is leaning against his locker with his ex-girlfriend Nicole hanging onto him. She keeps stroking his arm and leaning on him laughing when he says something funny.
Who does she think she is? She's all over him like he's hers. He doesn't belong to her. I know i have no right to be mad because he doesn't belong to me either, but they're not together. At least I don't think they are.
Though I can be mad about the fact that not even an hour ago he asked me out on a date, now he's all over her? How could I be so stupid to think that he liked me back? I can't compare to her, she's perfect. Her hair, her looks, her body, her life. I could never compete with her, or with the chemistry they have.
"Autumn? Is everything alright?" Jailen askes me with concern. I take my eyes away from the scene and give her a fake smile.
"Yeah i'm fine, just got a little dizzy." I lie.
The rest of the day goes by painfully slow and all i can think about is Trey and Nicole the whole time.
When school is officially over I walk out of the building and see that Jailen is standing by my car waiting fir me. That's when I realize today is nowhere near close to being over. I have a lot of explaining to do.
