"Okay Autumn right this way," Charles begins to explain " this is your office. It's not really big, but it'll do. You can start setting up and I'll be right back."
Today is my first day as an intern. I feel so out of place. Everyone here is so sophisticated, and well I'm not.
To say I'm nervous is an understatement. My hands are sweating and my heart beating a mile a minute. But the crazy part is, is that i love it. this is the only thing that has been keeping me sane this pass week.
School work is starting to pick up, causing me to have a lot of homework. And on top of that I have all AP and honors classes, which makes it more difficult.
Plus the whole thing that happened with Trey has been stressing me out. I still don't know why he started acting like that. So that caused the tension to be super high in calculus.
Then on top of that, my family have been keeping secrets from me and i'm truly starting to notice it.
So the thought of me coming here and working my butt off is what really helped me through all last week. This has been my dream for as long as i could remember, and nothing could stop me from achieving it.
Charles walk into the room with a stack of papers, which i'm guessing is for me.
"Alright Autumn, lets get you situated. So basically all you'll be doing is looking over these papers ad giving advice on what you think should be changed and correct any grammatical errors." He instructs as he sit at the chair in front of my desk.
"What kind of Papers are they?" I ask curiously, taking a seat opposite of him.
"Most of them are novel ideas and a few of them are actual story prompts from writers who are trying to get published." Charles then starts getting into detail. " So once you're done with changing and correcting the papers, I need you to rate them on the scale from 1 to 10. 1 being the worse, ten being the best. You think you can handle that?"
" i'm pretty sure i can." I state confidently. " But if you don't mind me asking, how does me rating and correcting these papers effect the author?"
"Well your input on their ideas and prompts determines whether they get published or not." I open my mouth to speak but nothing comes out. I'm too shocked to speak. I cant believe I hold many people futures in my hands, just by giving my opinion.
"Now that we have that covered miss Brown, lets discuss your pay." Charles says, breaking me out of my baffled faze.
"since we require our interns to be here almost everyday we are expected to pay them. So your hours will be from 3:30 to 8:00 each day besides Tuesday's and weekends. You will get payed 10 dollars an hour every week." I nod my head letting Charles know that the information he just gave me is perfectly fine.
He then stands up and shake my hand letting me know that i can get started, before he leaves my office.
The second he walks out, I grab the papers he left on my desk and begin working.

After 2 hours I finally get to take my break. The work was pretty simple, and I got through a lot of stories and ideas. A lot of the were pretty good. It's crazy to see how creative other writers are, that aren't famous.
Though i'm not gonna lie, some of them was terrible. Its like what do people really be thinking. If you're trying to get published by a big writing company the least you could do is try.
Anyway, i'm on break for about an hour or so and I plan on leaving. I grab my phone and leave out of my office as I check my messages. I have a ton of messages from the Jaillen, janisa, Wayne, and my mom, asking me how my day going. I start composing a text when i suddenly bump into someone.
Oh no, not again.
"I am so sorry. I have a tendency of not watching where i'm going." I rush out my apology as i look up to see someone i never thought i'd see.
"It's fine. I promise." Says no other than Nicole Anderson, Treys ex-girlfriend. "Your Autumn right? We go to the same school don't we?"
"Yep, that's me. And your Nicole?" I question, even though I know dam.n well who she is,
"Yeah that's me. It's nice to know that someone knows me by my name and just as Trey's ex." She replies.
"Yeah people can really be idiotic. I'm sorry you have to go through that." I say sincerely.
"It's fine. It's not your fault. Anyway, what are you doing here?" she starts but then stops and rewords her question. " I mean i never say you up here so..."
" Today's my first day." I explain " I work here as an intern."
"Well congratulations." She says cheerfully. We then start walking down the hall as we continue our conversation. " I'm an intern here as well. It's nice to see a familiar face here, and someone who's my age."
I respond with a quiet 'yeah' and the tension become awkward.
"I'm on my break right now and I was about to leave to get something to eat if you want to tag along." I say trying to break the awkwardness between us.
" I appreciate the offer but I'm actually waiting on someone. But do you mind if I send at something?" Nicole ask reaching in her pocket, automatically knowing my answer.
" No I don't mind. I'm going to Tim Hortons by the way." I inform her.
"Can you get me a Large ice cap and a cookie."she hands me a ten dollar bill before saying " I'll probably be here in the lobby or outside, so you don't have to come looking for me."
"Okay, I'll be right back." and with that I walk out of the building and towards my car, taking a deep breath.
