PART5: BEVEREAVEMENT
It felt like they had been waiting for hours when the taxi finally pulled up at the door of the flat. Luke had managed to pick Laurence up off the floor and help him to the door as shane followed in silence, tears streaming down his poercelain pale face.

drew walked beside him sadly. he felt his heart break beneath his chest knowing their exact fate when they get there. he knew they would be expecting to see him, he knew they would be called into a side room, he knew they would be given the news even drew was afraid to hear, the confirmation of his passing.

he pondered how he could feel so much pain even after death as he kept his eyes glued to his devestated lover.

silently they piled into the taxi, luke taking a seat up front as shane and laurence climbed into the back. drew sat between them and watched in dismay as shane glanced down and played with his thumbs, a sign drew knew oh so well was an early sign of an anxiety attack. shane had suffered from several over the years he had been with them but unlike all the times before, he couldn't place his hand on top of his to steady him, he couldn't pull him close and whisper it was all okay. he felt completely hopeless and all he could do was sit and watch the man he loved suffer in silence.

"the royal london hospital please" luke mumbled to the driver, his voice shaking. it was clear he was trying to stay strong for his friends but beneath the surface he was on the verge of tears.

as the car pulled away drew turned his attention to Laurence who's head was pressed up against the cold glass of the window, warm salty tears falling from his eyes and running down the glass like raindrops. he was still in the deepest state of shock and drew could feel an unquenchable guilt building up inside of him

"this is all my fault" he told himself "I made kier mad. I couldn't stop making him mad and now they might lose him forever"

he thought back to the words the nurse had told Laurence on the phone. kier had briefly woken, he had spoke to them and they were doing all they could for him. he was still alive. drew prayed he would pull through, and suddenly his own death felt less significant. all that mattered to him was kier's survival.

the journey didn't take very long, much to drew's dismay. he would rather them circle london for the rest of the night than whitness them recieve the terrible news that awaited them but as they pulled up at the accident and emergency department, luke paid the driver promptly and they climbed out, rushing forward in almost a jog with a sudden urgency.

as drew followed he counted every step as he felt his heart beat beneath his chest.

how odd, he thought it was, that a ghost could feel the beating of their heart even after it had stopped for good.

he shuddered as they reached the desk and suddenly Laurence pulled himself from the state of shock as he took over.

"hello, I had a phone call" he said in a gruff shaky voice "my partner and my friend's partner were in a car crash and brough here"

"yes sir" the receptionist replied typing away that the keyboard of her computer "what are the names of your partners"

"Mr Kier Kemp and Drew Woolnough" Laurence replied feeling his voice break with tears. clearly even speaking their names was painful for him.

as the receptionist punched in the names she stared at the screen for a moment or two before glancing back to the three.

"one moment please" she said softly as he stood and disapeared behind a door at the back of the reception booth.
