Convincing Sasuke to calm down, take a shower, and later on get him to sleep was hard work. Most of it had been done by Sakura while Kisame only tried to convince him by threats, but either way, it was tiring work. The two had climbed downstairs into the kitchen, deciding a nice warm drink sounded good about now.
Kisame especially, had been feeling very sketchy that very morning, and now after today's events, he was feeling something in his gut that told him something was in the midst of unfolding itself before him, but he didn't know what. Something was oddly wrong, he even felt it in the atmosphere; he was just having a hard time wrapping his finger around it.
"Sakura, remember months ago when Naruto freaked out?" He asked, following Sakura into the spotless kitchen. "You were making tea, I think, and I asked you if you remembered the day of his birthday?"
Sakura tilted her head in thought. "Uh..." She stood on her tip toes to grab a pot from a cabinet, thanking Kisame as he grabbed it for her. "When you scared me?"
"Yeah."
"Then, yeah, I remember. Why?" She walked around in the kitchen, already familiar with it since both her and Kisame practically lived there now. She threw some things around in the pot, making food to satisfy her hunger. "Something wrong?"
Kisame thought if he should tell her about what he was thinking. No doubt, she'll probably have a hard time understanding it or she'll simply think he's paranoid. Either way, he had to lay out his thought, and what better way than to voice them out loud, right? "I was outside that day, I walked in and then I scared you."
"Mhm." Sakura listened, waiting for Kisame to just come out with it as she prepared her food.
"Okay, so, just listen, okay? Don't say anything until I'm done speaking." Kisame rubbed the back of his head, somehow feeling dizzy with all the thoughts bouncing around in his head. He took a seat on the counter and looked at the floor for a while, wondering where he should start. "I think I'm onto something."
The blond had been struggling for hours, pulling his wrist from the bindings. He had to get out, he could be back any minute...
Sakura gasped, Kisame needed to say nothing more as he held up his phone for her to see. "You know where I'm getting at, right?" He asked, beckoning Sakura to follow him outside where he snapped another picture at the faint wet prints Itachi left when he climbed up the window. "Are we on the same boat, or do I need to explain my theory further?"
Itachi could be back any minute now, he had to get free quick.
Sakura stood shocked upon realization, slowly nodding her head and her heart beat speeding up. She felt a lump in her throat as Kisame walked and stood next to her, both looking up at the eerie open window. "This..." She started. "We have to tell Kyu..." Her teary green eyes looked up to the man standing beside her. "Kisame." She said, this time her voice feeling heavy. "Kisame, we-we h-have to..."
Just a few more tugs...
"Kisame!" Sakura shouted this time, her hands violently shaking and having the urge to hit something. "Why are you just standing there?! Answer me!" She shrieked. Upon impulse, she began punching Kisame's chest, though it hurt like hell, Kisame stood there and allowed the girl to keep going. "Say something, you idiot! Take out your phone and call Kyu this instant! Call the cops! Call them!" Her shrieks had made it through the open window, alerting Sasuke in his sleep and waking him up as he heat Sakura's cracking voice. Looking out the window, he saw what was going on and rushed downstairs.
Just..a few...more tugs... The blond had tears streaming down the side of his cheek as every tug seemed to be pointless, but still, he wasn't giving up.
The door bell rand, stopping Sasuke midway to the porch. Looking between the door and the scene outside the glass porch door, Sasuke hurried to open the door, revealing Deidara and Sasori. "About time- hey!" Sasori shouted as the Uchiha left the door open. The two watched as Sasuke almost slid across the floor to get to the porch. "What was that abou-"
"Wait." Deidara silenced his friend. "Do you hear that?" Both stayed silent and soon enough, they heard yelling and an evident struggle. Dropping their bags, the two ran towards the porch and stopped as they witnessed Sasuke trying his best to keep Sakura away from Kisame, the girl trembling violently in Sasuke's grasp while shouting at Kisame.
"Come on, break stupid rope. Break..."
"Sakura, calm down! Deidara grab her!" Sasuke shouted. "Kisame what are you doing just standing there?!"
Kisame clenched his jaw, his arm stinging from where Sakura had dug her nails in earlier prior to Sasuke arriving. Her punches were nothing to sneeze at either. The girl was clearly more freaked out than he was, and that in itself at least told Kisame she believed him.
"Call him! Get his fucking ass over here and kill him! What are you waiting for, Kisame?! Do it!" She shrieked, resisting the three boys holding her back. "Why are you just standing there?! He's suffered enough! All this time and- Kisame! Ki-Kisame..." She finished with a shushed sob. "Why? Why do you just stand there...why?"
"That's enough!" Kisame shouted over her. "What's going to happen if we call him, huh? What if he knows where he is and by calling, we fuck things up?!" The man shouted, silencing the four before him. "It's not that easy to just call the cops if we have no idea where he is. We have evidence, but what happens when he realizes we know, huh?!" Kisame spat, running both hands through his hair. "We need a different approach, one where we know he'll be safe and won't get hurt."
"Wait, what are you talking about?" Sasuke asked, suddenly nervous about what Kisame could possibly be talking about. "Kisame, wha-what's going on?" Sasuke loosened his grip around Sakura, Deidara and Sasori doing the same. Little by little, Sakura's knees gave out as she trembled from anger, Sasuke pointing at her before turning to Kisame. "Why is she like this?" The man didn't answer. "Kisame?"
"Break!" The blond shouted, putting all his strength into breaking the last bit of rope. Blood was already trickling down his arm, but he chose to ignore it. "Break!"
"Sasuke, I can tell you if you promise to keep calm." Kisame advised.
"A little too late for that. What the fuck is going on?!" Sasuke demanded. Deidara and Sasori backed up Sasuke, nodding their heads while Kisame took out Itachi's phone from his pocket. He looked down at it, frowned, and placed it back.
"Tell them, please." Sakura cried softly, grabbing Kisame's hand as he pulled her up. He hugged her tight and that only made her cry a bit more.
"Tell us what?" Deidara asked.
"Out with it, don't keep us waiting." Sasori too, could feel the tension in the air.
"It's best we go inside. The neighbors will-"
"Fuck the neighbours, Kisame. Why is Sakura like that and what do you need to tell us!?" Sasuke was getting impatient. "Is this about Naruto?" Sakura hid her face in Kisame's black flannel. "It is, isn't it? W-what is it? Tell me."
Kisame sighed, having no choice left but to tell him. "Let's go inside." He suggested. "I'll show you what I showed her, but first..." He sighed again, helping Sakura walk towards the porch door. "Are you going to follow?" He asked, turning around before entering to watch as Sasori, Deidara, and Sasuke stood still.
The three looked at each other nervously before nodding. Sasuke being the last one to walk in and close the glass door behind him...
