I heard screaming coming from my dad's bedroom, causing me to shoot up out of my slumber, taking a glance at my clock on my nightstand. The clock read two thirty-four in the morning so I rushed out of bed and out of my bedroom, running down the hallway to my dad's room. When I opened his door, I looked to see he was having a nightmare, like always.
Dad has been always having nightmares ever since my mom died of a horrible car accident a couple years ago. Ever since, Dad has been very over protective of me and making sure nothing will ever happen to me. I don't blame him, he doesn't want to lose another family member, but it could be annoying at times. I only tolerate it since I love my dad and don't want to hurt his feelings. Trust me, it's not fun seeing him cry.
I went over to him and shook his shoulder gently. "Dad, wake up, it's okay. You're having another nightmare."
Dad opened his eyes, staring up at me while panting heavily to try and catch his breath. I frowned, watching Dad stare at me before I decided to climb into bed with him, hugging him from around his neck tightly. Dad hugged me back tightly and I rubbed my hand on the back of his head, laying my head on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry for waking you, once again, Seth." Dad broke the silence after a few minutes. "You could go back to sleep, I'm okay now." Dad pulled away from me and I looked up at him.
"No I'm going to sleep with you, it's been a week straight now and it's worrying me." I laid down on the side Mom always used to lay on.
Dad sighed, lying down as well. "Fine, but don't worry about me, I'm okay."
"I'll believe you're okay when you start showing it." I yawned, covering my mouth with my hand. "Goodnight Dad."
"Goodnight Seth." Dad pats my back as I turned my back towards him.
I yawned again before closing my eyes as Dad began moving on the bed. Once I felt him stop moving, I was able to fall back to sleep.

The next morning came fast and I was up and about at seven, my usual time. My home school teacher, Mrs. Hale, normally comes around nine so I need to be ready for her. Dad is normally out of the house and working with his professional wrestling company called WWE. Today, he's seeming to have a day off, which meant he was going to be home all day. I don't mind it, just wanted to use the afternoon to catch up on my sleep. Oh well, maybe I could still do.
What sucks about being the CEO's son, I can't go out in public without people knowing who I am. Dad is like super famous and so are my grandparents. Vincent Kennedy McMahon owns WWE and appointed Dad to be CEO. Since people know who my grandparents and parents are, I get sucked in and being famous. I don't mind it, but because of this, Dad homeschooled me since he didn't want me to go to a public school and getting attacked by fans.
All I wanted in my life is to be a normal teenager. I want to know what it would be like to have friends, go to school outside the house, and what it feels like to have to work for money instead of just being handed money. Dad gives me three hundred dollars per week for doing absolutely nothing. I want to work for it, not have it be handed to me by my rich father. Sure, it's great having things handed to me, but I don't want to seem like a spoiled little brat. That's the last thing I want.
"Seth, Mrs. Hale is here." Dad called out, causing me to walk out of the kitchen and go to the front door, unlocking the gate from the machine pad to let her walk up to the door.
The mansion is really secured. We have a metal fence around the whole property and if anyone dares to try to break the fence, climb it, or whatever, a loud alarm goes off in the house and the person gets shocked. Dad even has personal body guards that lives on the third floor of the house. There's Alan, Ben, Nick, and Rick. Ben is my favorite, we bonded closer than I did with the others and I've known him since I was only seven. Personally, Ben does a great job at protecting my family too. The one time, Dad and I were--
"Hello Seth, how are you this morning?" Mrs. Hale brought me out of my thoughts. "Oh good morning Hunter, didn't expect you to be here." I turned around and saw Hunter was standing up against the wall a couple feet behind me.
When did he even get there? I didn't hear him.
"I took the day off." Hunter smiled and looked down at me. "Go get started Seth."
I sighed, but nodded and led Mrs. Hale to the kitchen where we normally do work. The moment we sat down, Mrs. Hale opened her book up and began teaching me about atoms.
~.~.~.~.
"Dad?" I asked, the moment I locked the front door, after Mrs. Hale left.
"In the living room." I faintly heard Dad's voice. I walked to the living room and walked over to the couch he was sitting on, sitting next to him.
"Dad, I really want to go to a public school. Why can't you let me?" I sighed.
Dad turned away from the TV and looked at me. "For you to be going to a public school is not safe, especially how famous we are. I went over this with you a long time ago Seth, my answer is still remaining."
"But Dad, listen to me. It's been a lifelong dream to go to a public school and make friends. No offense, but Mrs. Hale is so boring! We do nothing fun. The schools in movies look so cool, so much more fun than Mrs. Hale. I really want to make friends with people my own age and I want to farther my education to college. At least if I start at a high school, it won't be hard for me to make a transition to college and being around people. I'll hang low, I'll keep my identity a secret and to look like an average teenage boy. Please Dad, I'm begging you." I gave him my best puppy eyes, causing Dad to sigh and look away from me, looking to be thinking. "I'll do anything you want me to do, I'll follow your rules, if you come up with any, about me going to school. I promise."
"Seth." Dad breathed out. "You know how hard it is to let my son go out into this crazy world by himself?"
"Dad, I'm not a little kid anymore. I'm sixteen for crying out loud, I think it's time to let me grow up a bit. Give me more freedoms and start treating me like an adult. I know you're very overprotective of me from what happened with Mom, but I'll be okay. I know how to look after myself and I know how to handle situations on my own. I love you Dad, but I don't like how you could treat me as a child sometimes." I sighed before standing up. "Ugh forget it, I don't get why I bothered asking you, you always say no to those type of questions."
I walked out of the living room without giving Dad a second to speak. I walked up to the second level, walking to my bedroom and shutting the door behind me. I walked straight over to my bed and laid down on my chest, wrapping my arms around my pillow.
All I wanted was to be a normal teenage boy, is that too much to ask? Is it too late to live a normal teenage boy life?
