Chapter 8: Feelings

A Week Later...Monday

Jefferson saw the prince walk on the side walk across the street. "David?!" He shouted.

David turned to face the portal jumper. "Oh hey jumper. What do you need?"

"It's Jefferson, Prince Uncharming." Jefferson retorted. David just rolled his eyes. "I...uh. Could you help me with something?"

"Why would I help you?" He asked while crossing his arms.

"Look it's just advice I need..." He voice trailed off.

"Advice? Like what dating advice?" He asked with a chuckle. "Who's the lucky lady?"

"Dating advice no. I-look..." He didn't know how to explain the feelings. "There's this woman she's my friend, okay? I feel like every time I look at her I just..."

"Fall in love with her?" David pressed. Who is this woman?

"What? I'm not in love!"

"Uh yes you are. Jefferson bud you just said to me that when you look at her-"

"But I never said what I fell when I look at her."

"Then what do you feel?" David asked.

"I loose myself in her eyes." He mumbled.

   "I heard that you know.  You know Hatter you're very much in love.  With whom I don't know."  David pressed wanting to know the woman.

   "Still not telling."

   "Do you think she loves you?" 

   "She says she cares about me."

   "Then I think she might just be in love with you." David said.

   "I doubt that."  Jefferson replied.

   "You know what's really stupid? If you both love each other, why aren't you together?"  David said.  He then left Jefferson with that.

   Regina came walking into diner and placed a pick-up order over the phone. She walked up to the counter.

"Here's your food." Ruby said. "Oh! Regina?"

"Yes."

"Can I ask you something?" She paused and the Regina nodded, "Are...are you in love with Jefferson?"

Those words hit Regina like a truck. The words "in love" scared the the living crap out of her. "What-what makes you think that?"

"I dunno.  I see the way you guys look at each other-"

"Ruby, we're friends okay. Nothing more." Regina turned to face the door.

"But do you want to be more than friends?" She asked and Regina hesitantly turned around.

"No." She lied. "I've got all I want. My son loves me again, his daughter sees me as a mother, and I have Jefferson as a really supportive friend. That's all I need-"
