LET ME BE YOUR RAIN

Let me be your rain
When the sun is hot and dry

Let me become the blankets
To swaddle you at night

I'll be whatever you need
Because you've met the needs of I

Let me be your smile
When a joke escapes my lips

Let me be a kiss
To caress your broken soul

I'll be whatever you need
Because yours are before my own

If you desired a candle
I'd light a million flames

If you wished for a bath
I'd drown the whole place

I'd do anything
For someone like you

Because you are the gun
To my hot glue

You are the canvas to my painting
And the sky to my clouds

You make my happy
You shine so proud

You are the heavens
While I'm the Earth

You shimmer like glitter
While I am merely dirt

You were a rose
And I was a dandelion

You grew prosperous
And I was a weed

But I watched you and helped
And got you what you'd need

Because you were frail
I tended your wounds

My breath woke you up
My smile did ignite

A torch in your chest
Awoke that day

And you fought on for me
Let your dignity

You stayed alive for a mere weed
You stayed sane for a dandy like me

As your legs gave out
And your hair clumped and shed

I held you close
And cleared your dread

Because you were my fire
And I was your fuel

We lived on together
Although we were fools

As the lovely rose died
The dandelion lived on

I lived in pain
But your soul lived on

I knew my rose had gone to sleep
I knew she would never return

I knew she'd be happy
And her flames would burn

So as the sun set
On the night of your demise

I knew that the next day

And the sun would rise.
