School had just ended, and I was walking out, my headphones playing music quietly enough that I could hear what was going on. As "Marukaite Chikyuu" was playing, I started losing track of time, until a familiar voice brought me to my senses.

"Hey, weeb! Where do you think you're going?" the voice rang out, causing me to jump about ten feet in the air (yeah, I'm extremely skittish). I began speeding up into a slow-ish run out of fear (and maybe adrenaline, who knows?) in hopes that I might be able to escape any after-school bullying for once so far in my junior year.

However, that wasn't the case....

I felt a hand wrap around my headphones and yank them off of my head. Luckily, I had quick enough reflexes to unplug them from my iPod so that nothing could happen to it. "Hey! Don't mess with those, they were expensive!" I cried out, turning to gaze at the familiar faces I had come to loathe. Rosalind, leader of one of the most popular cliques at Cherry Grove High (though only second most popular compared to Skylar), and Violet, her second in command.

I watched as Rosalind handed my headphones to her, then walked towards me. "Well, you thought that you could get away this time? Too bad!"

I sighed, knowing that she was right. Every day, she and her posse would catch me right after school ended. The worst part was, they never did that during school hours, so nobody knew I was being bullied except for my small group of friends. Even if somebody did know, they wouldn't care. I mean, if you had to side with one of us, would you side with the girl that everyone adores, or the introverted nobody? I was snapped out of my thoughts when I noticed that Violet had pulled my hood off of my head, and I let out a sharp yelp when she tugged at my hair. Honestly, this wouldn't happen if I hadn't let my hair grow out to be this long, but now I prefer it this way, so I'm pretty much stuck.

'Well, here comes the abuse...' I thought, bracing myself not only for the increase of hair pulling, but the words that began flying out of Rosalind's mouth.

"Idiot, you know that the only reason you even have any friends is because they're a bunch of nobodies, just like you. After all, who would want to be friends with a stupid weeb who only talks about anime and manga and stupid fictional characters that don't even matter. Where will that put you in your future?" Idiot, nobody, stupid, weeb...I've heard them all before, but my heart still felt like it was being stabbed.

'That'll put me in a better future than rude, heartless bullies like you two,' I thought to myself. About five seconds later, my cheek was turning red from Rosalind slapping me across the face.

"What was that?!" she screeched, and I realized I had just said that out loud without thinking. I immediately went submissive, trying to tell her I didn't mean it, but she was already at the point where there was no going back. I could tell Violet was too, because I felt her let go of my hair and walk back over to Rosalind. The two looked at my headphones, which were now laying on the ground, then at each other, then at me, and I realized what they were about to do.

"NO!" I cried out, but it was too late. I watched as my brand new, expensive headphones were smashed into pieces. As the two began to sashay off, I ran towards my broken headphones which had cost all of my money. As we passed each other, I heard Violet whisper, "That's what you get, you stupid anime lover."

When I got to my headphones, I dropped to my knees, beginning to pick up the small, shattered pieces as tears fell from my eyes.
