Chapter 4 - The Wedding (Part 1)

(Y/N POV)

I wake up and immediately think of Travis. I didn't see him last night and I felt bad for it. 'I mean I did say I was going to stick by him... maybe it's better that I don't?' I sigh and gently swing my legs off the side of the bed. I carefully lift myself up and go down the ladder of the tree.

Once I reach the merchant shops I look around and see Malachi... maybe he knows where Travis is? I walk up to him anyways, "Hey Malachi."

He turns around and stares at my hood, "Hi."

"Do you know where Travis is?"

"He's actually on guard duty right now... but Cadenza wanted to see you. She's in the house over there."

I turn to look where he is pointing at and nod. "Thank you." I reply and give him a small smile before walking off.

Once I make it to the house I open the door to see a beautiful girl with blonde hair and blue eyes in a long white dress. 'I guess she's the bride.' Before I could say anything I felt someone pull my wrist into a room. I look at the person, she had amazing red hair and magnificent light blue eyes. "Put this on," She said to me handing me a bag.

I stare at her with a confused look, even though she couldn't see it. She smiles at me and says, "I'm Cadenza, the lord of Meteli. I'm also Laurence's sister.." 'Laurence's sister? I don't know much about Laurence but I want to know more about him.'

"Try the dress on. I want to make sure it fits."

I flinch at the word 'dress'. I didn't really like dresses all that much but I am attending a wedding right? I have to at least wear a dress.

"Come out when you have the dress on!" She enthusiastically said to me before leaving the room, leaving me to change.

I pulled out a short black and white dress (Just look at the picture above or to the side) I gently took off my jacket and my other clothes then slipped on the dress. I stared a myself in the mirror for what seemed like forever. I sighed and slipped on the jacket and put the hood over my face so it would cover most of my features on my face. I didn't zip it up though because I knew Cadenza wanted to see my dress.

I slowly opened the door as I walked out to see Aphmau and Cadenza waiting for me. "I changed..." I quietly said looking at my feet.

"Hun! We cant see your face! We need to see your face to see if it looks good!"

I swatted her hand away from my face. She seemed very startled and confused. "No."

"But... it's a waste of I can't see your face."

"Yeah. It is a waste. A waste of my time." 'Stop saying things before I can think!!!' She looked like she was about to cry... I couldn't take the pressure and I mumbled a sorry before leaving the building.
I was upset about what I had said... I didn't have to lash out like that.  I sighed and quietly ran to the tree to change.

I sighed as I fell backwards on the bed. I heard Aphmau coming up the ladders as I was staring at the sky... it was almost time for the wedding. Aphmau came up to the side of my bed and looked at me, "Look... I know you didn't mean to act like that with Cadenza but I know a way to make her happier."

I froze for a second then stuttered, "H-How?"

"You know how." I seen her smirk at me from the corner of my eye before she descended down the tree again. 'I know how?' I wondered what she meant until I thought of the only thing that made sense, 'She wants me to take off my hood.'

It was about a hour and a half before the wedding started. I decided to not wear my hood like Aphmau said... I had to show them my face anyway. I left my (H/C) hair cover my eyes as I walked from the tree. Once I started seeing people I was getting nervous... I was not used to this. My heart was beating quickly as I looked at the floor. I tilted my head up a bit so I knew where I was going. The moment I lifted my head I saw a person that I knew with their back facing me. It was Travis.

I quickly and quietly made my way to him, careful not to get attention. As soon as I got to him I lightly tugged the sleeve of his shirt, making him turn around and face me. At first, he looked at me confused but then his eyes widened as he whispered, "(Y/N)?"

I reluctantly nodded my head which was still looking at the floor. I said I was not going to wear the hood but I still don't want to show my face to people. He smiled at me and said, "Lift your head up I cant see your face!"

I shook my head no as a response and his smile turned to a slight frown. He mumbled 'why' but I didn't answer... it was obvious wasn't it?

He sighed and I felt him wrap his hand around my wrist, pulling me with him. I stiffened as I was pulled behind him. I heard the rustling of trees and I heard grass crunch beneath us. He suddenly came to a stop and turned to face me, making me run into him.

I got knocked back a bit but I quickly regained my balance, still looking at the floor. "Hey, can you show me your face now? We are alone."

I didn't move my head. I couldn't move my head, my body wouldn't allow me to. When he noticed that I couldn't he grabbed my chin with his hand pulling my face up to see his. I quickly squeezed my eyes shut so he couldn't see him.

No one liked me because of my eyes.. they were jealous of them. They started to ignore me as I tried to talk to them... but thats not all. After that they kept on calling me a monster of some kind. It was not my fault that my eyes were this color... now I'm just worried about what people will think. 'Will he leave me like he did the others?'

"(Y/N) please open your eyes," He whispered to me in a calming voice.

I knew I couldn't hide my face forever so I slowly opened my eyes. My sparkling (E/C) met his forest green ones. His eyes widened and he surprisingly mumbled, "Woah"
