I ran on board and to the cockpit. Han and Chewie were sitting in the pilot's seats and hitting buttons. I walked up behind Han and placed my hands on the back of his chair.
"Glad to have you on board again." Han said being unexpectedly warm.
"Glad to be back." I said, Chewie moaned loudly.
"What are you talking about Chewie?"Han asked, I didn't understand the Wookie.
We took off and exited the atmosphere. We entered lightspeed.
Han reached into his pocket and pulled out... a lightsaber.
"Where'd you get that?" I asked.
"Maz gave it to me. It was Luke's." He said, he looked at it contimplatively. "I can't use it, here." He said handing the lightsaber to me.
It felt strange to hold it. Something about this lightsaber wasn't normal. My eyes widened.
"This was Darth Vader's" I said, I didn't even know how I knew. Han knew. I activated the saber. Blue light filled my eyes. "Thank you." I said looking at the blade.
"Don't thank me." He said. I deactivated the saber and attatched it to my belt. I suddenly remembered the shield surrounding Starkiller base.
"How are we getting in?" I asked Han.
"Their shields have a fractional refresh rate. Keeps anything traveling slower then lightspeed from getting through." Han said. I filled with dread.
"We're going in at lightspeed?!" I asked. Chewie also looked like he knew it was crazy and moan talked like YES WE ARE!
"Alright Chewie, het ready." Han said. Chewie groaned getting ready. Han looked intently at the flashing panels. "Now!" He yelled and they both hit their swtiches.
We violently exited hyperspace, there was asnowy mountain right in front of us. I jumped back in fear. Chewie moan yelled.
"I'm pulling up!" Han responded, pulling up over the mountain. We pulled over the mountain but stayed low, hitting the tall trees as we went.
"Why are we flying so low!?" I asked, barely able to stand from all the movement.
"It confuses their sensors!" Han replied. The trees stopped and we hit the snow, slowing to a stop. We were right on a ledge.
"Woah." Han and I said in unison.
Han and Chewie stood up and walked out. I followed them. Han grabbed a blue winter jacket and a ratty white scarf. He put the jacket on and tied the scarf. He looked at me for a fleeting second. I nodded and we walked out ont the snowy planet, Chewie slinging a duffel bag over his shoulder. It was freezing. I zipped up Poe's mother's jacket. It hugged me tightly, but not too tightly.
We stealthily ran across the snow to a small metal shak looking out onto the oscillator. We peaked out.
"So what was your rank in the First Order?" Han asked.
"Oh, I didn't have a rank, I was just an apprentice." I said, his face completely changed.
"What? Then how do you know how to disable the shields?" He ased.
"I--uh--I don't" I said truthfully.
"People are counting on us! Are you trying to sabatoge this mission?" He asked suddenly aiming his blaster at me. I backed up holding my hands up.
"No of course not!" I insisted.
"Then how are we going to get the shields down?" He asked, not lowering the blaster.
