Picture of Ava ^
I'm Ava, this is our story. We were in the mall food court when it happened. Well, the parking lot actually, but it started in the food court. I guess it was dumb of us to follow the boys to work, I mean they said they worked at a garbage dump, but we were curious. It's a good thing we did though. If not, one of us may have died, one may have gone crazy, one would've had to move across the country, and others across the ocean. Our little group, wouldn't have been a group anymore. I'm getting ahead of myself, and like a proper story, we should start from the beginning. At the mall food court.
"What are you doing?" Kim asked Lilli, her mouth full of quesadilla. Lilli's dark head of hair was bowed as she tore up her napkin.
"Confetti!" she yelled throwing her napkin all over Kim, and her food. Kim glared at her in response, picking paper out of her light brown hair. Stevie squealed when someone poked her in the hips. Her boyfriend, Dixon, sat down next to her. She punched him in response. "Ow." He mumbled rubbing his arm. Sam sat down next to him and handed him a burger. Gracie sat down and handed Taylor a taco from Taco Bell. "You always cry when you eat those. Why do you still order them?" I asked her. Taylor took a huge bite.
"Becaufs fey are delifliciou-" she started coughing. Macy patted her back while Max sat down with his tray and said her iconic phrase, "Chew before you swallow." Jim and Davis sat down across Macy and Gracie. Heh. The twins sitting across the twins. One set, tall with tanned skin, the other short and pale. Barry sat down and picked up a French fry to eat, but Jim snatched it from his fingers a second before he could eat it. "Hey! That was mine!" Barry yelled in his British accent.
Jim just smiled. "Not any more." Augustus walked up looking at his phone. "We need to be at work by four."
"Aww. That means you have to leave." Stevie leaned on Dixon's arm.
Augustus looked at Stevie and said three words, "Girls are icky."
Macy looked up at him, "No, boys are icky."
Augustus blinked at her response. "Any ways, he needs us t-"
"Why would a trash place need you to be go in all the time?" Kim interrupted. All seven of the guys shrugged. Augustus glared at Kim. She smiled a huge cheesy smile towards him. He sat down and we all fell into silence as we finished our meals. Kim reached across the table and gave half a quesadilla to me. "Why does Ava get your left over food?" Taylor asked, "I'm hungry."
"Because this has wheat in it. And I owe Ava a thanksgiving meal." Kim replied. I nodded, "Both very true." They fell into silence once again. Dixon was the only one still eating. He didn't want to leave, he hated working at the dump. Augustus knew he was stalling. "I know what you're doing Dixon. You still have to go to work." Dixon smiled and scooted away from Augustus and closer to Stevie. Augustus smiled and shook his head, "Fine, another half hour."
"Yes!" Jim pumped his fist and leaned back in his chair. We heard a phone ring and Jim moved to answer it. He tried to reach the table with his feet still propped up on it. He pushed back on his chair and fell. I almost spit out my soda, and Kim fell out of her chair too. Jim was on the phone, still sitting on the floor, suddenly serious. "Yeah. Ok. We'll head there now." He hung up. "We have to go. Code diaper." The guys all got up immediately and threw their trash away.
"Bye, Stevie." Dixon kissed the top of Stevie's head. She watched them leave the food court. "Let's follow them." She said turning back to the table. "Why would a garbage dump need them for an emergency?"
Kim nodded, "Let's do it."
"You just wanna follow Jim." Lilli commented.
"You just wanna follow Davis!" Kim yelled.
"I never said I wanted to follow them." Lilli retorted.
Kim took in a breath to answer, but Taylor interrupted, "Are we going to follow them or not?" Everyone around the table nodded. We all got up simultaneously and went to where the boys parked. Barry looked weird. He had changed into strange, tight, maroon, leather pants, and was strapping something to his back. When he turned and saw us, he jumped. "Um. Guys. The girls are here."
"Shit." I heard someone say from the other side of their truck. Augustus and Sam, walked around from the other side of the truck. Sam was shirtless. I saw Gracie blush and look away. He sighed and pulled his shirt over his head. Augustus closed his eyes in frustration. Max and Jim walked around from the other side and stood in front of us. Davis opened the door to the truck. "Get in." He said curtly. We all climbed in, except for Lilli.
"Lilli, he said get inside." I said to her through the the open door.
She shook her head, "I don't need to." The guys turned to Davis as he climbed out of the truck and looked at her strangely. He then nodded. Lilli took a step forward and joined the rank of guys surrounding the truck. Max turned and said over his shoulder, "I wish you guys had stayed inside."
"Why?" Taylor asked.
"Safety." He mumbled quietly.
"From what?" Gracie asked.
"That." Jim nodded towards the road we were parked by. A group of about ten people were walking towards us. They looked like they were joking around, but once they saw us they got serious. "Close the door." Jim commanded. Macy pulled it shut. We watched as a blade shot into one of the girls on the other group's hand.
"Oh my gosh. What's happening?" Macy asked, "And why is Lilli out there with them? She's gonna get hurt." The girl with the knife lunged towards Lilli. We all gasped, expecting blood to appear, but none came. We watched as, seemingly in slow motion she curled up and landed on the asphalt on four paws, with dark brown fur and brown eyes. A second before the blade hit her, she lunged and grabbed her wrist. We heard a cracking noise, and screaming as blood spurted from the wound. It all happened in less than a second.
