20. Clocks and Chicks.

When I get home, everybody already left and Tom is sitting on the couch.

Looking at the tv. "Hi. Did you have fun?"
"Yup. So what's my birthday present. I'm very curious."

I smile. He's never going to find out. "Please, it's my birthday."
"Maybe later."

He rolls with his eyes and looks at me. I grin widely.
Tom smiles back.

"I know what my birthday present is. "
"Oh really? "
He shakes his head. I giggle.
I sit down on the couch next to him.
He puts his arm around my shoulder and I lean in to kiss him.
He kisses me back and I place my fingers in his hair. He touches my hair.

I break apart and walk into the bedroom
I kneel beside our bed and look for a giant box. My fingers touch a satin ribbon. I pull and the box shoves itself in front of me.

I walk into the living room and Tom looks up surprised by the size of the box.
I'm sure he'll love it.

I basically shove it into his arms and he almost drops it.

I cackle. I sound my least favorite aunt. Great. He sits down and gently takes the lid of the box.

"Did you wrap this yourself?"

Ha yeah, sure.

"Yup. That's me."

"There's no such thing as you being good at wrapping gifts."

He opens the box and looks at the sneakers.

"I love them, thanks so much honey."

"I'm glad you like them. I'm going to bed. I have a lot to do tomorrow. Like moving into the fraternity house. And you also have stuff to do. Let's just enjoy our last moments together."

Tom cocks up an eyebrow. Oh, he's so dirty minded. I smack his ear. He yelps.

"STOP THINKING ABOUT SEX, IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN."

He smirks. "I wasn't thinking about sex, so how's the dirty minded one now? Good night Mia."

I face palm myself in my mind.

Just great. Sigh.
