Thank you for reaching this point, on this journey with me. I have to say Coffee With Wilde has been a "writer's holiday" as Virginia Woolf would say. This is one of the first stories I have pressed the published button and felt proud. It is the most fun I've had writing in a while (Note: I do love all my works just this has been a lot more relaxing).
I wanted to write something a little quirky and more character driven thus came this. I was partially inspired by Joanne Harris' short story collection, A Cat, a Hat and a Piece of String, about a trainside cafe which was popular amongst artists, and was sold by the family, and a writer ended up buying it, and at the end they mentioned an Oscar Wilde sullen poet who sat there. Except my cafe was bought by a Korean family, added in a Sylvia Plath looking girl and a lot of literary allusions, proving what a huge dag I am.
Hopefully you could relate to these weirdos which I love with every piece of me, Athena for her optimism and love of literature, Klade's sardonic wit yet a grump with a soft spot for his friends, Kwan and his ability to put up with whatever these strange people throw at him. Lena with her crazy hair and love for her friends, Ty and his all round goofiness, and lastly Steph the boy who stole all of my angsty poems.
I hope one day we can all find out 'Artisans' where we feel like home.
Lots of love from,
Me (Gina), Athena and Klade xx
