'Why did he run off like that' was the only question in my heart as I was now panting to keep up with my friends. Alex sped off in his jeep and there was no turning back. I guess they know him very well because without bothering to cry out after him, David pulled the garage door and wormed his Mercedes out, while Brono pulled his Camry out. These guys never go out in style... my mind was humoring every situation and I was trying hard to keep sober.

David was a mighty driver and I was glad I got into his car; because soon we were able to tail Alex even though we were four or five cars behind. David was keeping up with his speed to wherever he was going, but Brono was far back. You know what I did? I mentally teased Brono for being the lame driver. God, I am such a teaser. Finally, we reached in front of a hospital and that made me forget every humor cell I had, making me skip breathing altogether. I could see Alex jump out and ran like a mad man and so did we. Brono was not that far behind. He assured us that he will take care of the cars and so, we ran after Alex. Being the fat bee, I was far behind and at last as I reached where everyone was, I was so out of breath. I sat down near to an old lady and she looked at me aghast which irritated me. We were in the intensive care unit and from there I get to know that Jack has been in an accident.

I looked at Alex who was sitting with his head in his hands and he looked drained. I wanted to console him but was not sure how to. He was not talking to anybody and that just ripped me apart. After a long pause, he looked up and searched for someone and Natalie pointed to where I was sitting. I was watching them all this time, but when I though Alex was looking at me, I looked at a girl sitting in the last corner of Alex's row. I heard some ruffling next to me and I turned to see Alex sitting totally wasted with worry lines all over his face. The look on his face made me want to kiss all his worries away.

"I am sorry, I ran without giving a proper word."

"It's okey... what happened?"

"Jack...him, umm... oh, my god... there he is." I looked up to see the doctor and he was asking for Alex. He went to the doctor and I looked to where Jasmine was sitting. She was exhausted and it felt like she was blaming herself for everything. She was crying her eyes out and the old women were looking at her with sympathy. Gah... that old women looked at me horribly when I sat down out of breath and look at her, she wasn't to soothe Jasmine. Damn it. I slowly walked towards jasmine trying to forget the hatred toward myself and uttered what sound like a croaky groan. To my surprise, she understood and returned something in the same voice.

"Hey..."

"Hi..."

"See, you don't have to..." I don't know how to frame this. But, luckily she interrupted me.

"I have to; it was because of me, he... I don't even know what happened to him."

"Just relax everything is going to be alright." I rubbed her back as she comfortably cried to my birthday dress. Ooh, why was I thinking about me in every possible situation? This is terrifying me.

Half an hour later, Alex walked out looking red and flaming; he came out and hit the wall in the corner and jammed his head with a loud yell. The hospital seemed like a ghost town for a second and then everyone looked at their own businesses like nothing happened. Like no one heard a grown man taking it all out in an intensive care unit hallway. Knowing Alex and his short temper, no one had the courage to get past his anger, but, I wanted to know how he will react to me and thus, I mentally planned to not get hurt and pushed him to a seat. I pulled his head up to face me.

"Either you treat us silently and push us away by asking us to go or just say what the hell happened." He stared at me for a few seconds and then looked at everyone that was around him. Everyone wanted to know the answer with gawking beady eyes. So he looked down and nervously played with his fingers.
