I've been lying in bed awake for I don't know how long, but I had awoken when Twan decided to wrap his arms around me. For some reason I haven't taken his arms off of me, I suppose he makes me feel secure. "Abbi..." Twan whispers. I stiffen when I hear him whisper my name. Is he awake? I turn and closely look at him, he looks dead asleep. "Abbi..." he whispers again. He's sleep talking my name. I brush his hair off his forehead and smile at him. I've never heard anyone say my name while they sleep. I place a soft kiss on his cheek and finally decide to get out of bed.
As I get done with making breakfast, Twan walks in the kitchen. "Smells delicious Ab", he tells me while trying to steal a biscuit. I swat his hand away and turn around towards him. "How did you sleep?" I ask while getting plates down, but still eyeing him. He shrugs and replies with, "Soundly." I smile at him and say, "I bet. What were you dreaming about?" Twan laughs and answers, "It's like you can read my mind. You know I dreamt about you, don't you?" I nod my head and look away to put the food on the plates, but really to hide my face. Should I tell him that I heard him say my name while sleeping? Twan raises his eyebrows at me and asks, "Abbi what is it?" I sigh and decide to tell him anyways, "I knew, because you were whispering my name multiple of times." Twan bites his lip and hitches his breath, while asking, "What else did I say?" His expression shows he's nervous and I can't help but reach out to him to comfort. I place my hands on his face and reassure him, "Nothing else T. Why?" His face softens with my words and he's the one to wrap his arms around me. "It's nothing, I'm just curious to see if I said anything else", he tells me. For some reason I can't decide if he's telling the truth or not, but I drop the subject to enjoy breakfast.
"Are those my sweats?" Twan asks me once we're getting ready to leave. I look down at the pants I'm wearing and cheaply smile up at him. "I didn't want to wear mine, I just bought a new pair and we're going to get so dirty", I reply with. Twan shakes his head and comments, "So you'd rather get mine dirty." I wrap my arms around his neck and lean up so we're almost eye level. "Love you Twan", I say and kiss him on the tip of his nose, then head towards the door. I feel his hand grab mine and intertwine our fingers, while walking out the apartment.
I look around at the address I was given, it's someone's house. I'm not sure how we're going to be doing a paint gun fight. My team mate, Shay walks out of the house and approaches us. "Welcome to my house Abbi", she greets me with a hug. She turns to Twan and asks, "Hello I'm Shay. Who might you be?" He gives her a smile and answers, "Twan ma'am." Shay laughs and playfully smacks him while saying, "I might be older than you, but calling me that makes me feel much older. I do however love your manners." Twan blushes a little from embarrassment, but only nods his head. Shay glances over at me and winks. "Well come in, come in. We're about to tell the rules of the game", she rushes us in.
Once inside, I notice it's practically a mansion in here. Everything spotless, but filled with mementoes of the family to show that she does have kids. "So here are the rules. We've set up a course/battle field in the backyard. The guns are already loaded with paint and you'll be given refills to keep in your pocket. Depending on where you get hit, will be if you're out. The chest area and head are automatic deaths, but if shot on any arms or legs, then you can't use those extremities. But may continue to shoot other people and whoever is last wins. We'll be using different paint colors for each round, that way we'll know who is out in the next rounds. Sorry that we're not paint balling, but some people like me bruise easily. Well let's go kick some ass people. Pair up!" Ashlee explains.
We walk outside and I'm impressed, it doesn't even look like a backyard. They went all out for this event. Twan hands me a gun and three refills. I grab his arm and pull him close. "Don't leave my side", I tell him. He laughs and reassures me, "I don't plan on it, partner." I smile up at him and he places a kiss on my forehead, then I hear the count down for the game to begin. We hide behind this huge barrel thing, Twan leans down and whispers, "I'll look around to see if anyone's nearby, so watch for my thumbs up to know if it's clear to come out." I nod my head and watch him go check. I see his eyes go wide, then he sprays some paint. I hear a curse word slip from someone else's mouth. Twan looks at me again and gives me a thumbs up. I come out from behind and go to his side, we make our way forward and Twan shoots everyone that's around us. I honestly had no idea he was good this kind of thing. I'm amazed, truly. In the corner of my eye I see someone near Twan, as they get his leg in the paint I shoot them in the face. My ears are filled with a scream and my name yelled, "ABBI!" I look to see Ashlee in front of Twan and I, except her face is all blue from the paint. I smile cheaply at her and say, "Sorry." She laughs and tells me, "It's all good, it's just cold on my face." But now I realize Twan can't use his right leg. He puts his arm around my shoulder and stands only on his left leg. We continue to walk around, well he hops. I once again hear my name, this time from Twan, "Abbi!" I stop and look to find that he's not next to me, instead hopping forward shooting at someone I can't see. "Abbi!" he yells again as I see someone else and they've taken their shot at me already. I close my eyes and wait for the coldness, except I don't feel anything, but a thud next to my feet. I open my eyes to see Twan covered in paint. "You jumped in front of me T", I say with astonishment. He looks up at me from the ground and tells me, "Of course." A tear escapes my eyes and he gets up to wipe it away. "Go revenge me Ab", he whispers while placing a kiss next to my ear. Another tear falls down, then I concentrate on the task. I run around and observe my surroundings, taking people out from head shots. I didn't even realize I won, until Twan picks me up in his arms to congratulate me.
The car ride home I can't help but stare at Twan, but never say a word. I've never had someone jump in front of me. I've even played something similar with Jake, but he was the one to get me killed usually. We walk up to the apartment and something else dawns on me. Twan called my name twice in the first game, just like this morning when he was dreaming. He's about to go into the bedroom when I call his name. Twan looks back at me with an expression I can't read. "No one's ever jumped in front of me, whether it be metaphorically or physically", I tell him. Twan begins to walk towards me, but never loses our gaze. "Ab..." he begins to say, but I can't help but ask, "Did you dream about today?" My question takes him by surprise, leaving him this time to look away. However, I place my hands on his face to make him look back at me. "What do you want to me to say Abbi? Yes, I did ok. I mean it wasn't the same exactly", he replies. The way he's looking at me now, I don't know if I want him to continue. "When you won in my dream...I did this", he adds right before I feel his lips on mine.

I dedicated this chapter to Twan of course, her savior.
What do you think of the ending? Do you like the thought of them being a couple? How do you think Abbi will react about the kiss?
Well until next week :)
