The plane touches down and I slowly make my way towards the airport terminal. My eyes search for a familiar face, but instead it's a sign that catches my eye. That soccer girl whose name is Abbi, I read off the sign. A smile creeps on my face and I walk towards the person holding it. I push the sign down to display the person's face and sure enough Chance is standing there looking at me with a huge smile on his mouth. He takes me into his arms and I drop everything I'm holding. "I've missed you so much", he whispers into my ear then places a kiss on my forehead. "I've missed you too", I tell him while stepping back and bending down to collect my suitcase.

The car ride to his dorm is quite, but I'm thankful. The whole time on the plane ride here I told myself I wouldn't cry, but this thing with Hayes has me torn up. "Do you want to talk about why you're here? I mean I'm happy to see you, but Abbi your phone call of needing to get away and see me, kind of scares me. What happened?" Chance asks finally. I sigh and turn my head towards him. "Hayes and I were a couple until yesterday, when I found out something about him. Some of the other guys also had developed feelings for me and let's just say right now the atmosphere isn't great in LA. I needed to get away and I believe you can help me. You can help me move on with my life once and for all", I reply. Chance frowns a little and grabs one of my hands while returning his gaze back to the road. "I'll try to help you as best as I can", he tells me.

We reach the dormitory and Chance carries my suitcase for me. I look around at everyone passing with their backpacks and coffee in hands. "What's the matter?" Chance's words bring my attention back to him. I look over and ask, "What do you mean?" He gives me a small frown while answering with, "You're frowning." I reach up with my hand and sure enough my lips are curving down. "It's because this supposed to be your life. Isn't it? I remember when you, Jake, and I all made plans to come here one day. Funny how I'm the only one, but that's ok, because life made other plans for you and Jake. Abbi, yes I would love to have the both of you here, but I wouldn't change our situations. The two of you are living out your dreams and I get to go to school to do my dream job. Years from now we'll look back and have no regrets about the outcome. It won't matter in the end, because you'll always have me in your life. As your friend", Chance continues. He stops walking, making me realize we're at a door with his name on it. "You're right. I guess when looking at everyone I started to frown, realizing how this was supposed to be my life. My life would be so different if it were to be this, much simpler", I tell him while he unlocks the door. Chance gives me a small laugh while taking my luggage in and saying, "You were never a simple life girl." This makes me smile, but before I can respond he asks, "Want to grab lunch?"

I tell Chance everything that has happened since I last saw him. I wasn't sure whether I should include the exchanged kisses from the others, but decided I needed to get everything out to him. "Does Jake know all this?" Chance asks while our food is being brought out. "Not this last part with Hayes, I left to here before seeing anyone else. Only Twan knows", I reply. Chance frowns and comments, "I always thought Twan had a thing for you." I laugh and tell him, "No you didn't. You're just saying that now that you know he actually did." Chance throws a fry at me and says, "I did know." I gasp while picking up the fry, then eating it. Only to throw one of my fries at him. We look at each other and begin to crack up laughing. It feels good to get everything out and still be able to laugh afterwards. I knew Chance could help me. "Penny for your thoughts?" he asks. I look back up at him and truthfully answer. "Thank you for making me laugh after everything." A huge smile appears on his face and reassures me, "Anytime."

"Well, well look who it is. I'm surprised to see your face", I hear once we get back to the dorm. I look up and see a familiar face. Danny, Chance's other best friend, is standing among two other guys I don't know. "Danny let's not start anything", I comment. "Hmph", is all I get as a response from him. "We were about to go meet up with Madyson and Lindsey to play some laser tag. Did you two want to come with?" one of the other guys that's wearing glasses asks Chance and I. Chance looks at me and raises his eyebrows as to see if I'm ok with it. "Sure, but I must warn I'm pretty good", I reply. The guy with glasses laughs and tells me, "I'd like to see you try. I'm George by the way." As we leave through the door again I say, "Abbi. I'm Abbi." George gives me a smile, but then Danny takes his attention about something from school. "No one has beaten George in laser tag", Chance leans close to me to say. I smile at him and tell him, "I take the challenge." He only shakes he head at me.

It's everyone for themselves. The game is kind of a blur. Everything that moves is my target and no one is safe, not even the girl with boots on, whose name I think is Lindsey. Everything's black, except the neon colors that are lit up from the black lights. All of it becomes one and the next thing I know is hearing the announcement that the game's over. I make my way out and once I catch sight of Chance I start to make my way towards him. However, George take a step in front of me and extends his hand. "Fair game", he tells me as I shake his hand. Confusion crosses me and I'm not sure what he's talking about until I see the game board in the corner of my eye. The first two names are tied with the same number of points and sure enough it says "George" and "Abbi". George walks up to Chance with me and pats him on the back while saying, "I have mad respect for her man."

It comes to my attention of where I'm going to sleep once we get back to the dorm. "Do you have extra blankets to put on the floor?" I ask as I eye around to find something thick to put on the ground to sleep on. "Nope", Danny replies right away. Chance gives him a look, then averts his gaze back to me. "I thought you could sleep in my bed", Chance offers. "I don't mind sleeping on the floor", he adds. Before I can reply he picks me up and places me on his bed and gives me a kiss on the forehead. "Goodnight Ab", he whispers. Then takes the other pillow and the sheet. However, after a couple of minutes of lying on the bed I feel bad that he's on the floor of his own room. "Chance", I whisper. "Yeah?" he asks. "Could you just come up here and share the bed?" I ask. He doesn't answer right away, but then I hear him start to move around and pick the stuff up off the ground. He slides in, except I'm practically against the wall already, so he wraps his arms around me to scoot closer. "Are you sure this is ok?" he whispers. It's in this moment where I realize that I am ok with being this close to Chance. In the moment is when I realize that my heart isn't beating faster from his touch. In this moment is when I realize his touch doesn't bring me goosebumps. In this moment is when I realize I'm not in love with Chance anymore. "Yeah it's ok", I finally reply.

Two days later

"Tell me this means you won't shut me out now", Chance pleads as he drops me off at the airport. "Friends until the end Chance, you can't get rid of me that easily", I reassure him. He smiles at me, but looks at the ground while saying, "You know I thought I would be devastated when the day came that you tell me you aren't in love with me anymore. But now that you have, I'm happy that you've finally found peace. Maybe we both can finally be happy." His words make me so happy and I take a step closer to him so I can wrap my arms around him. "I know we will. I wish the best for you Chance", I tell him with sincerity, then make my way to catch my flight.
