Evie loved everything about Auradon. It's palace-y everything; from chandeliers to elegant tables, comfy beds and princess-like rooms. Everything about Auradon is perfect for a princess.

Evie had thrown away her mother's ideals but some still stuck to her.

Yes, she wears less make-up nowadays. Especially knowing that crying with make-up in your face is a real disaster!

Last week, Doug broke up whatever they were doing and that broke her heart. He said they weren't meant to be and that stuff... He said he loves someone else.

[Flashback]

It was supposed to be movie night. The four of them were getting ready since it's gonna be in Jay and Carlos' room.

"What movie is it gonna be tonight?" Mal asked.

"The Grudge?" Jay

"Lady and the Tramp?" Carlos

"101 Dalmatians? Oof. Just kidding, Carlos." Jay

"Jaws?" Carlos

"Maleficent?" Mal

"C'mon Mal! That's your mom..." Carlos

"Whatever. How 'bout Alice in Wonderland?" Mal

"No!" Carlos

"Aladdin?" Jay

"No way." Mal

"Snow White and the Huntsman?" Evie

"Really Eves? Really?" Jay

"Well, what do you want to watch then?" Evie challenged.

"..."

So they decided on watching Snow White and the Huntsman... After all, Evie did bribe them since she made chocolate chip cookies and if they didn't agree, no cookies. Jay sulked and Evie wore her victory smile all the way through the movie.

The night would have ended good if she hadn't recieved the text.

She felt ecstatic, knowing that the guy she liked, the guy who changed her perspective of herself, the guy who told her that she is more than just a pretty face.

Yes, Doug may not be the first guy who said that to her--Jay's the first--but Jay will never like her as more than a sister, and she already accepted that. Though there's still a teeny-tiny crush--okay, a major crush--but so she likes him, no one would know right?

After all, Mal and Carlos always figures her out, well, both her and Jay out.

But she does like Doug, right?

She fixed her hair, changed her pyjamas into a plain blue long shirt, and apple print leggings, and put on make-up.

She went out and waited at the designated place. She waited...

And waited...

And waited...

And waited...

She waited for at least an hour and when she was about to leave, Doug went running towards her looking drained and disheveled.

"Hey Doug!" Evie greeted.

"H-hey Ev-vie." He panted, his hands on his knees.

Evie crouched down to his level. "Everything okay?"

"Yes." He hissed in clenched teeth.

"What's wrong? You can talk to me..." She promped.

"It's just that... I think we should stop. This, thing. Whatever it is, it needs to stop."

Evie widened her eyes, "Is it because I'm a villian kid? You know that I'm willing to change for you, you even said yourself that I'm changing in a good way!"

Doug looked at her, disgusted. "I never liked you. The first time we met, I said 'Holy...' 'cause I knew that you're too innocent and can be played along. With you around, I became more popular and now, I'll be known to be the guy who breaks pathetic Evie's heart."

"You said that I was more than a pretty face... You..." Evie's voice broke.

"Yes, that was true. You're more than a pretty face. You're also too innocent and too naïve. I thank you, actually. Without you, I wouldn't be noticed by the girl I really liked."

"Now, we're dating and it's all thanks to you. You two are friends, y'know."

Doug left Evie alone in the garden, him having the last laugh as Evie cried her heart out.

[Flashback End]

But who knew a broken heart could strengthen her friendship with someone. That day, someone lent her his shoulder. That someone showed her that there are still people caring for her. That person made her believe in second chances. She didn't expect him of all people. Didn't expect that someone to be the guy who she thought only thought of her as a sister. Of all people, she didn't expect it to be...

Jay.
