Oh my. I completely forgot about this story, I'm sorry. And for the very long no update, cheers to this treat.

By the way, if you find where Inspiration's hiding, do not hesitate to tell me. I'll hunt it down and eat it, and tie it with me beside my bed.

Okay, out with this randomness, in with the story.

-

(This takes place in an alternate universe where everyone are just normal students - as normal as high school would be - and all they had to worry about were reputation, lovelife and popularity.)

"Evie," A husky voice mummured.

His warm breath was fanning her face and her brown eyes immediately met his when she opened them. She felt her face grow hot and groaned internally, imagining her blush reaching the tips of her hair.

He was unbelievably close and he made her surprisingly comforted and secure and still bothered in a way how she could be so relaxed against him.

Evie cuddled closer, leaving her curled up in her best friend's chest and the latter having his arms all wrapped around her.

He gently touched her wrist, outlining the scars with his fingers. She smiled softly.

It was their tradition as life long best friends that whenever they fight, after, they'll spend at least a night sleeping next to each other. Then it usually gets better in the morning and they're back to the way they were before.

It's a pretty effective solution for the both of them. Not to mention, the last one was the worst one yet.

-

"I like her." Jay sighed wistfully, staring at the girl clad in pink and carries herself like a princess. "She makes me want to be her prince and be her happily ever after."

Evie rolled her eyes, "You fall in love too fast." She casted a look at said girl - Audrey Hendersen. Spice girl senior and cheerleader extraordinaire. She's a bitch. But if he likes, why not? Supporting him is the only choice. It's not like he's her property to govern.

"Go."

He looked at her.

"Tell her and let's get this over with."

He grinned and hugged her. "I knew you'd understand. I will." He raced to the girl after that, leaving Evie to stare at his rapidly retreating back.

-

Jay asked. Audrey said yes.

-

She supported the two for the duration of a few weeks, ignoring the suble numbing in her heart. Until, of course, Audrey's true colors showed.

-

"Stay away from him, weirdo." Audrey snotted, her nose held high. "You're not fit for his friend, much less be close to him, so don't come near my boyfriend or I swear you're gonna regret it." She jabbed at Evie's forehead, not enough to draw blood, but close.

(Sharp fingernails are terrifying, believe me.)

-

She refused strongly at first, but then it started.

The bullying, the teasing.

She needed release and she needed it fast. That's when she saw the razor.

-

She managed to get by and hide it from Jay for some time but it wasn't enough. She had to get away. She can't risk seeing his disgusted face as to what a coward she has become. She doesn't deserve him.

Evie avoided him after that for some time. But conveniently, he found some way to corner her.

"Did I do something wrong, Evie?"

Is was the sheer desparation in his voice that made her lift her head and establish eye contact.

"Nothing, I... I-" she steeled herself, "Just, stay away from me, Jay. I mean it."

He flinched, and looked wounded by her words that for a second of doubt, she wanted to take back everything that she had said.

But she can't. So she walked away.

-

"WHO THE HELL LED YOU TO DO THIS?!! EVIE! LOOK AT YOU! YOU'RE HARMING YOURSELF!"

Tears burned in her eyes and she took her exposed wrist. "I... I..."

Jay realized what he was doing and softened his tone, his determination unwavering. "Who was it?"

"..."

"Evie."

Her throat burned. "IT WAS HER, OKAY?! YOUR SO CALLED GIRLFRIEND AND HER GROUPIES. She..."

He engulfed her in his arms, her burying her face on the crook of his neck, and she cried, heart-wrenching sobs echoing throughout the room.

-

"Screw her and everyone else, I can't just walk away knowing that you're hurting Eves. Don't push me away again. You're more important to me than any of them combined. You're you. And when you hurt yourself, you're hurting me. Please. We can do this together."

A small laugh escaped her lips and she smiled, genuinely too, and in that moment, Jay had never seen her look more beautiful. Audrey can't compare to her, not in the slightest.

"You'd be hopeless without me, huh?" Evie teased, finally bringing back her slightly playful personality. Oh how glad he is to see it too. He personally believes he's having withrawal symptoms of Evie.

He nodded vigorously, playing along. "I would. Imagine, me being alone and depressed and everything. Maybe I'd even go goth," he contemplated. He tried a solemn look - all serious and gloomy. Slouching, he deadpanned a "Whatever".

Evie giggled, muffled by the hand she covered it with, and a smile broke out of his face, too. But he frowned not long after. "Seriously, though. Evie... We're the best of friends since in nappies. I won't ruin that just because of someone I met just a couple of weeks ago. And knowing what she did? I could kill her, regardless of who she is."

He sighed. "Let's not do this again, okay?" He turned to her.

"'Kay." She muttered.

-

They were inseparable ever since they grew up. They had misunderstandings but not something that great. It was under the threat of their friendship being destroyed that got under her though. All those years, for something so petty, what's not to break down over that. And she did thought he'd pick Audrey over her. He likes her, really. That much she knew. Or at least she holds his interest. Whatever. That past is the past and Evie's determined not to let a fight such as that happen again. After all, if this is the best that she could have, being best friends is better than loving him from afar.

-

What do you think Jay got in the end? 'Course it came as his blue-haired best friend going to girlfriend.

Lol. Hahaha gosh this is cute. I just typed this in one go. I didn't even proofread this. Too lazy to do so. Enjoy. Sorry not sorry. ^^
