-Giovanna's POV-

In the ballroom, I hovered by the wall. All of this noise was unbearable: the chatter, the music, everything. I've heard it all before from my bedroom, but there it was muffled and I got used to it and eventually ignored it.

I watched as people mingled and dance. I zoned out just staring at people. Then I felt someone tapped my arm. I jumped, afraid it was going to be Charles or Helena. But no, it was just Marzia.

"You should really join the party!" She shouted, swaying side to side to the music.

"No...no thanks." I replied loudly. "I'm good just standing here."

"Hey Giovanna!" Mari shouted as she danced her way over to me. "What are you doing all by yourself? Where is Anthony?"

"I don't know!" I answered.

"Marzia! We should get Giovanna on the dance floor!"

"Great idea!" Marzia responded. And with that, the two girls dragged me by my arms to the dance floor, flung their arms in the air and started to sway side to side like Marzia had been doing before. I just stared at them in confusion. I sort of regret disobeying Helena.

The song changed to a slow song and of course Marzia and Mari left me to go find their dance partners. I slugged back to the wall and watched as the couples assembled, wrapping their arms around each other, resting their heads on their partner's shoulder, and stepping side to side in rhythm. I sighed, I wish I hadn't pushed Anthony away...maybe then I would have someone to dance with. And he wouldn't be with Kalel.

And just like that, Anthony appeared beside me. No Kalel in sight.

"What are you doing here?" He asked loudly, even though the music wasn't pulsating and destroying my hearing anymore.

"You don't have to shout." I told him. "And I'm being a guest tonight."

"I thought you would be working it. Seeing as your a maid."

"I should be working." I dropped my head.

"Well, if your a guest, you shouldn't just be standing here." He looked over at me. "Would like to dance, Giovanna?" He held out his hand to me. I grasped it and he led me out onto the dance floor.

I put my arms around his neck and he put his hands on my hips. We began to mimic the other couples.

"So, tell me about the Hollands." He demanded.

"What do you mean?"

"Like what's the deal with all of you? Like...I see Marsha and Peter..."

"You mean Marzia and Pewdiepie?"

"Yeah." He chuckled, "Them. I see them kissing. Like full on makeout. But they're brother and sister?"

I laughed, he was hilarious. "No, no. We live under the same roof, but Charles and Theresa don't really look upon us as siblings. Except for Kalel and I, we're technically supposed to be sisters."

"So...people can hook up within this family?"

"Marzia and Pewdiepie did." I answered. "Why do you ask?"

"Just curious." He smirked. "Next question: How on earth did such a mean asshole marry such a nice, caring, and loving woman?"

I smiled, "You must be talking about Charles and Theresa." He nodded his head. "Well, I've never asked. But I heard through the grapevine of maids that they were high school lovers. And the only reason why she still is with him is for because of his money and she has her 'needs,' if you know what I mean."

He nodded his head in understanding. "Okay. So, third question, why are they foster parents?"

"Again, through the grapevine, I heard Theresa couldn't have kids, but she wanted to be a mother so bad. So, on their way to the adoption agency, they came across a wreckage..."

"The one you were in?"

I nodded my head, "Wait, how'd you know that?"

"Helena told me." He retorted.

I sighed, "Anyways, she picked me up and immediately fell in love with me. Charles did too, until suddenly one day he decided I wasn't the daughter he wanted. So, I was given to the maids for them to deal with. Theresa checked on me frequently, and thought I was sad. So they got Kalel from a foster program. Kalel was so perfect in his eyes that he wanted to find more children like her. So they've been doing it for...I want to say ten years."

He shook his head, "So..."

"Do you have any more questions?"

"One more." He answered. "Why did you push me away when I kissed you? I mean it seemed like you liked me back..."

I hesitated, "No comment."

"Please, Giovanna. This is my last question, and then...I promise to leave you alone forever."

"No!" I reacted too quickly, or so I thought. "That's not what I want. It's far from what I want. I just...being a maid under Charles's rules...restrict me from doing a lot of things. And one of those restrictions is I can't interact with other children in this house. And if I...kissed you back...I would get such a harder punishment than just talking to someone. It's not you at all Anthony, I think you're really, really nice, but I just can't." The song stopped and I stepped away from him. I scratched my head, "I'd love to talk to you some other time, but I think my time as a guest is coming to an..."

"Giovanna Holland, you are in soooo much trouble." I turned around slowly to see Helena with her arms crossed over her chest.

"Oh shit." I mumbled under my breath as Helena grabbed me by my arm and dragged me out of the ballroom.
