He walked along the frosty corridors, his school shoes leaving an echo through the halls. Recieving dissapointing looks from students around him, he decided to keep his gaze down and focus on the floor. He wished he never came, he knew this was a bad idea. At least he was away from home, at least he wouldn't have to face his parents. His mother wasn't so bad, she often sent him pitying looks across the room, but Lucius didn't even acknowledge his presence. Draco refused to call him his father anymore, he no longer felt like a part of his family.
"Does he think he can just parade around and forget what happened?"
He heard mumbles behind him, and he quickened his pace. He felt tears sting his eyes, but refused to cry.
I'm pathetic. Pathetic. He started running, hoping no one could spot his tears.
He just wanted to get to his room, lock the door, and never come out again..."Ouch!"
He was abruptly halted by a squeal, followed by angry whispers that sounded somewhat lika a girl voice. Spinning around he glanced up at the person he had just rammed into.
Pale face, tired from all the studying and reading, robes all neat and tucked in, her wavy dark hair twisting into curls every now and then.
It was none other than Hermione Granger.
She was rubbing her sore shoulder, muttering in pain, as her eyes darted down at her books that had been scattered along the staircase.
"Watch were you're goin-"
When she saw the sight of him, she let out a short gasp. His breath started to get heavy, and wiped his face before she saw anything.
Then he noticed.
He could see the pity in her eyes, and he couldn't bear it. He didn't want anyone to feel sorry for him, especially her, the person he despised for years.
He turned and hastily ran to his common room.
*
She couldn't believe what she had just seen. Draco Malfoy, crying. Even if she utterly hated the pure-blood, she didn't think anybody deserved to be hurt like he was.
Sighing, she picked up her books and smoothed out the pages on them. His eyes were so full of pain, it almost made her feel it.
Why do I even care? It's not like I knows anything about his problems.
She rushed to her Potions classroom, flustered from her thoughts.
