Hermione stood there, alone, tears threatening to spill out of her eyes.
Draco hadn't changed at all, he still hated her, and now all her friends despised her because she had taken his side. What do I do?
That moment with him, she felt safe, and as if she really wasn't alone anymore.
"I guess I was wrong,"she cried to herself and regretted exposing her emotions to him.
First Day Of Christmas Holidays
Every day was a struggle for him. Every day, he forced himself to look the other way, to not look at her. Whenever he did, he saw her broken expression and his heart stopped.
Once or twice he was caught hesitating infront of her dormitories, wondering if he should speak to her.But he never did.
Whenever he came near her, he stopped himself from letting any words slip out of his mouth, because he knew it would be for the better if he was out of her life.
He had to let her go.*
Hermione tried to ignore her heart whenever she looked at Malfoy, which she tried to avoid.
It hurt too much.
Her friends started to worry about her, and Harry asked her once in a while if anything was wrong, but every time she denied it.
Ginny tried to get her to talk, but nothing could make her smile anymore. When the Christmas break came along, Ginny tried to persuade Hermione to come back home with her, but she disagreed, saying that it would be better if she stayed. The other houses started to notice too, because Hermione wasn't the happy, bubbly person she used to be. She barely even smiled, but then again, not many did either. The post-war period was quite depressing.
Hermione's friends were chatting about what they would do in the holidays, and she decided to leave the Great Hall, heading towards the library, a place where she could read and think over everything.
She had just turned the corner when she heard a sneer.
"Awww, are you heading to the library again? Do you feel left out again?"
Pansy was standing behind her, a wide grin spread onto her face.
"Leave me alone."
Hermione tried not to show any weakness in her voice. Pansy laughed coldly.
"No, I won't, until you tell me why you keep looking at my boyfriend."
Hermione pretended not to be affected by her words.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Pansy stared her up and down, staring at her with a pearcing look.
"Oh, you know exactly what I'm talking about. My Draco baby, you mudblood are looking at him like a sad puppy. If you think you have a chance with him, you're wrong. And I'll make sure you never look at him again!"
She spat, pulling out her wand and pointing it at Hermione.
She hissed a spell under her breath, and before Hermione could reach her wand, she felt a blast to her stomach, and she flew back into a wall, wincing from the pain.
Pansy aproached her, laughing evilly.
"And now to make sure you NEVER look his way again..."
She was now only a few meters away from Hermione, her wand still pointing her direction.
She hadn't noticed a figure approaching her quickly."Stop, Pansy, stop!"
a voice came from the side, and Hermione's heart stopped when she saw who it was. Pansy was too consumed to notice and had already screamed the spell.
Hermione squeezed her eyes shut, but before the curse had reached her, it was blocked by someone who had leapt infront of her.Her eyes widened as she heard a cry and saw Draco's limp body fall to the ground infront of her.
