They walked out of the hospital wing, hand in hand.
Draco felt like he was floating from happiness. He felt like he belonged there, with Hermiones soft hand clasped into his.
He couldn't stop glancing at her from time to time, just to check if she was still there, to see if he wasn't dreaming.
Hermione caught him looking."Hey! What are you looking at?"
she giggled, and started swinging his arm lightly."Nothing."
A small smirk lit up on his lips, and he looked away.
"Don't lie to me."
She pouted, and Draco laughed, facing her.
"Fine, I'll tell you. I was looking at you."
He blushed a bit, and Hermione grinned at him.
"What is so interesting about me, Mr. Malfoy?"
She teased playfully.
He didn't say anything, because they had reached the Griffindor dormitories.
"I'll tell you another time,"
he laughed, and planted a kiss on her cheek.
He then turned to leave, and saw someone standing on the staircase. It was Ginny, who had her mouth wide open and looked like she had just seen a ghost.
He just smirked at her, before leaving to his dormitories.*
Hermione smiled dreamily as she watched him walk away.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted her thoughts."Hermione, am I hallucinating or were you just friendly to Malfoy?"
She saw Ginny approach her, with an unexplainable expression fixed on her face.
"Uhm... maybe?"
Hermione stuttered, and entered the common room.
Ginny sat next to her on the couch."Just tell me."
Hermione hesitated, but decided to tell her the whole story. Ginny stared at her in awe as she was speaking, occasionally interrupting her to ask if that really happened.
"Okay, I guess I can understand... but I'm not sure how Harry will react to this."
Hermione sighed, and nodded her head.
"I'm scared. What if he will hate me and never want to talk to me?"
Ginny patted her shoulder.
"There's only one way to find out."
*
As he reached the dormitories, he couldn't help but wonder how Weasley-girl was handling the situation. He hoped even if she didn't approve of the idea, that wouldn't stop Hermione from seeing him. He really needed her, truly.
"Where were you?"
He heard a cold voice call to him. His smile faded.
"That's none of your business, Pansy."
He started walking away when he felt sharp nails dig into his skin. He turned to face her, and shot her a dirty look.
"Get off."
She laughed, but it wasn't merry and warm like Hermione's laugh, but an emotionless and mean cackle.
"Why did you protect that mudblood?"
He flinched at the word, and pulled away from her grip.
"You could've killed her."
Pansy looked at him with disgust.
"Is that a problem? It would be better if she was gone. That annoying pest."
Draco didn't answer, he just left her there and shut himself in his room.
He couldn't let her hurt Hermione.*
Ginny was packing up the last of her things before leaving.
She hugged Hermione and told her to write letters every day."Just don't let him hurt you."
Hermione nodded, and watched her best friend leave, dragging a huge suitcase with her.
She sighed, and laid back on her bed.Why was everything so complicated?
Hermione stuffed all her books in her bag and headed over to the library to finish some extra work.
She sat down by a table, taking out her parchment and writing utencils.
"Don't you ever stop studying?"
Hermione looked up from her essay to see Draco making his way over to her, smirking.
She stuck her tongue out, and dipped her quill in the ink again.
"I need to finish my essay."
He sat down beside her, and grabbed her book. She glanced up at him with an annoyed expression plastered onto her face.
"I needed that!"
She reached for the book, but he only lifted it higher, laughing.
She huffed and crossed her arms. That annoying ferret!
Suddenly, idea popped into her head.
She leaned forward, towards Draco.
He was laughing loudly but stopped when he felt Hermione's lips pressed onto his.
She used this distraction to grab her book back.
He was irritated when he realized she had fooled him."That's not fair. You only kissed me to get your book."
He sounded like a little child who didn't get his candy.
Hermione laughed."Yes, I did. But not only to get my book back, also because I enjoy kissing you."
He stared into her eyes.
"Really?"
She nodded, leaned in again and pulled him towards her, this time kissing him deeply and passionately.
He cupped her cheeks with his palms, and held her closer. He wanted to be with her, and only her.
