"No!"
Hermione sprung forward and held him. His uneven breaths signalled he was still alive.
Blood seeped through his uniform and onto the floor.
Pansy let out a scream and backed away.
Some teachers rushed into the corridor and were shocked to see one of their students sprawling on the floor, bleeding.
Madam Pomfrey was called over and he was carried away to the hospital wing.
Hermione couldn't believe her eyes. She was sitting slumped on the floor, the only evidence of the event was the pool of blood infront of her.
She was dragged away from the scene, and the last thing she saw of there was the people crowding round, curious of what was happening."Let me see him!"
She cried, trying to get past Madam Pomfrey to the bed that was masked with a curtain.
"Darling, I am afraid you can't, unless you are family or close friends."
The lady looked at her kindly as if to ask if she was any of those.
Hermione shook her head slowly."You don't understand. He is here because of me."
Madam Pomfrey sighed, but refused to let her through.
She pushed Hermione outside the hospital wing and left to go and take care of Draco.
Hermione sat there for hours, she was determined to wait there until she was allowed inside.
Madam Pomfrey left the room and was surprised to see Hermione still outside.
"Sweetie, you should really go to your room. Mr. Malfoy is resting right now and no one should disturb him."
She said, shaking Hermione's shoulder slightly, waking her.
Hermione said she would, but instead of going to her room, she waited until Madam Pomfrey was gone and quietly pushed open the door. She gasped at the sight of him. He was bruised on one cheek, and his upper body was mostly bandaged. She rushed to his side, entwining her hand with his gently. She stroked his hand softly when she saw him sob in pain.
"You fool, you shouldn't have done that. Look at you now..."
She cried softly into his chest. Hermione suddenly felt a hand cup her cheek. Her watery eyes shot up, only to meet his gaze. He was smiling at her, genuinely smiling.
"I would have never forgiven myself if you got hurt."
Hermione's heart leapt out of her chest. No one had ever made her feel that way before.
"It's still my fault you're hurt."
She looked down at the ground, ashamed.
"I'm still glad you're here."
Draco whispered, and closed his eyes for a brief moment.
Hermione stared at him, not believing her ears. He had left her that time in the tower, but now he said he was glad she was here..."Hermione I- I'm so sorry."
He stammered, avoiding eye-contact.
She placed both hands on each side of his face and looked deep into his grey eyes."Why did you have to leave?"
He had so much hurt in his eyes, but she was determined to know.
"Because... I'm a monster, and I don't want to pull you into the mess I got myself into."
He explained nervously, and quickly hid his left hand under the bed sheets. Hermione noticed.
She reached for his arm but he pulled away, letting out a sob."Draco, please."
"You can't know, you'll hate me!"
Hermione's face softened at the fear in his voice.
"I won't, I promise."
He reluctantly put his hand forward, tears streaming down his face.
Hermione rolled up his sleeve, and his heart raced at her every touch. She finally uncovered the whole mark, which was spiralling up his arm. She traced his skin with her fingers, just like he did with her scar.
"Don't touch it, it's the sign of the pathetic, cowardly loser I am."
He whimpered, sliding his sleeve down quickly.
"It only shows how strong you are,"
Hermione stated, clasping his hand between hers. His eyes swivelled to hers, and he wasn't sure if he was dreaming or not.
She wasn't disgusted, she wasn't leaving him like he thought she would. She was leaning in...
Her soft lips brushed against his, and he pushed back with so much want and emotion, because that was the one moment he felt like he wasn't alone. He was with her, and she was with him.
Their hot breaths mingled in the frosty atmoshpere of the hospital wing, and Draco entwined his fingers in Hermione's hair, brining her closer to him. This is all he'd ever wanted..."Hermione!?"
They both pulled away to look to the side, where they spotted a figure standing in the doorway.
