I grabbed my black cross body handbag from the dresser and glanced at the clock. 2:56 pm. I turned to my full body mirror next to the bedroom door and touched up my outfit. I was wearing a maroon sweater with a black skirt and leggings, with my usual necklace and cat eye makeup. I took my brush and brushed my hair as a last touch. I held my breath and turned away from the mirror, breathing out while opening my bedroom door to head down stairs.

I started hearing murmurs from the living room as I reached the top of the staircase. I smiled as I saw Rob sitting on the couch surrounded by Theo and Kristen. He was wearing a black snap back and a plain white shirt. Their heads turned to me as they heard me come down.

"Hey Kayla," Kristen greeted.

I smiled and waved a bit as I reached the bottom of the stairs. "Hey."

I saw Theo smirk and elbow Rob in the arm.

Rob smiled and cursed him under his breath before turning to me. "Are you ready?"

I nodded and grabbed my lace up boots, "Almost." I elevated my foot on a kitchen chair and started unlacing the boots.

I saw Rob stand up and Theo pat him on the back. I finished putting on my boots and looked at Rob, who was now holding open the front door.

I put the chair back in place and looked back to my friends sitting on the couch.

"Have fun," Kristen said and waved.

"Bye," I waved back and stepped out the door. The crisp air bit at my nose and I got light goose bumps. I heard Rob close the door and follow me to his car that was parked along the sidewalk. He brushed by me to open the passenger side as I stepped in. He made his way to the drivers side and started the engine. I watched as our mansion slipped out of sight, and we were on the road.

"Which movie are we going to see?" I asked to start conversation.

"I thought I would let you pick when we got there. The theater shows new released movies and some old ones."

"We have theatres like that in New York," I said while looking out the window. I would have to admit that I was feeling a little homesick at this point. I missed my mother, Shea, and my eight-year old sister, Grace. I didn't think much of my father anymore. He divorced my mother when I was 15. He ran off to Florida somewhere with his girlfriend that he was secretly dating when he was married. According to Shea, he got re-married to her and owned a mansion off the coast of Miami. He checks in on Grace and I once every few years, usually if there's an announcement or some incredible news we hadn't heard about.

I looked up when the car stopped to see the shopping center Rob was talking about. I unbuckled my seat belt, stepped outside of the car and shut the door. Rob was at the front of the car, looking out at the shopping mall.

He started walking when he saw I was ready.

"There's a cinema at the end of the road," Rob said as we crossed the road to a sidewalk.

It was difficult to keep up with him, his long legs took long strides while mine took short ones. One step of his was the equivalent of two of mine. It made sense though, he was 6'1 and I was only 5'4.

We passed different shops along the way, many that I wasn't familiar with. I had never been to this part of California before. I tried to hide my facination but couldn't stop the smile that crept up on my lips.

Rob eyed me suspiciously, "Have you really not been to a shopping mall before?"

I shook my head, "I've been to a shopping mall, but not this part of LA. There are so many shops here I haven't seen before."

He snickered, "We can come back another time and shop if you want."

We turned the corner to see the movie theater. There was a board showing what movies were playing today. I scanned them through before making a choice. The one that stood out to me was they were replaying the Titanic from 1997. Rob appeared next to me and looked over my shoulder at the movies.

"Let's see Titanic," I pointed at the sign. "There's a showing that starts in 10 minutes."

He nodded before looking down on me and turning to buy the tickets. "Are you a fan of romance?"

"I tend to have a soft spot for them." I gave him a half smile.

He bought the tickets and opened the door to the theater for me. We walked in and headed for theater seven.

There were rows of theater style empty seats. There was only a couple of other people here that were sitting in the back corner.

Rob ushered me to a middle seat and sat to the left of me. The movie screen lit up and the movie started. We were just in time.

---

By now we were two and a half hours into the movie. The Titanic has already sunk and everyone started dying off. Rose has found out that Jack had died. I knew this was coming, I've seen this probably a thousand times before. But still, a tear ran down my cheek as Rose let go of Jack.

I felt Rob squeeze my hand softly, like he was watching at me the entire time.

I held his hand and wiped away the tear with my free one.

We stayed like this until the end of the movie. I was almost startled when Rob stood up and let go of me, taking the heat away from my hand. I jumped up as well and followed him out the theater.

I gazed at his hand, almost tempted to grab it again.

He surprized me as he turned around to speak, "How was the movie?"

I blushed slightly, like he knew what I was thinking.

"I loved it. Even though I've seen it like a thousand times."

He smiled, "I'm glad your having a good time."

He led the way out the theater but turned the opposite way of the way we came. I looked around curiously and kept walking beside him. We came to a street with shops on each side before he answered my obvious question,

"Since we're having a good time, why does it have to end?"

I frowned in confusion and he smirked.

We approached a small shop at the end of the street in which he reached and held the door open. I was welcomed by a sweet smell and realized that Rob had brought me to an ice cream parlor. I spun around and smiled at him like a giddy child.

"My treat," He said and walked by me to the line.

I got a scoop of mint chocolate chip and he got a scoop of vanilla.

---

It was 7:26 PM by the time we headed back to the car. This day went by so fast it was almost unreal.

We pulled up to the mansion and parked on the curb. I breathed in the cool air as we got out of the car. I followed Rob up the driveway and to the front door. Rob stopped at the door and turned to me.

If I was going to do this, I had to do it now.

I took one of his hands and held it between both of mine. I looked at him and smiled before dropping his hand and unlocking the door.

From the last seconds of our precious moments together, I could have sworn that I saw him blush.
