Soft silk bed sheets covered me and I snuggled deeper into them, relief streamed through me as I realized I was just dreaming. I opened my eyes to a dark room and sat up quickly. This was not my room, I flung my feet over the side of the bed and tried to stand up, but I fell backwards. I put a hand to the side of my head were I could feel a large bump. Had I been knocked out? I struggled to remember the events from last night. I could remember James being attacked, and I tried to run but was cut off by a man, then nothing. Where was I? I stood up again this time a little more slowly. The floor I stood on was wooden and I could feel the room slightly rock back and forth. I was on a ship. I have never been on one but I could tell that is what I was in.
I felt my way around the room and was able to feel some sort of fabric hanging from the wall. I tore it down and a bright light filled the room. I let my eyes adjust to the new lighting and looked out the window. Water. All I could see was the ocean out in front of me. Where was I? Where are we going? I started to panic and look for a way out and easily spotted a door. I turned to walk to the door when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I jumped afraid of what it was. I relaxed a little when I realized it was only my reflection. To the side of me stood a full lengthen mirror. I looked at my reflection and realized that I was not wearing my ball gown from last night. I was wearing my blue day dress. I don't remember putting this on? My hair had fallen out of its up dew and fell down my back in a mass of sandy curls.
I checked myself for any other injuries other than my head and was relieved when there was none. If I wasn't in a cell of some sort that must mean that I am not in any serious danger. Looking about the cabin I looked for a sword or a knife but was greatly disappointed when I couldn't find any. Thinking fast I tore off the top of the bedframe so I had something that kind of looked like a bat. I was about to open the door when I heard footsteps coming from outside the door. I quickly hid to the side of the door and readied my make-shift weapon above my head, ready to strike who ever walked through that door. The door opened and I brought down the heavy piece of wood with great force, hitting my target on the head he plopped to the floor. I put down my weapon and attempted to drag his limp body over to the end of the bed. Using the bed sheets i was able to tie him up. I saw a chair over by a desk in the corner and grabbed the chair propping it up against the door so it would buy me some time if anyone else tried to enter. "Okay, okay calm down Brea, you knocked out a man that could possibly cause you harm, take deeeeep breaths, breathe in and breathe out, in and out. There's a person tied to the bed." I whispered to myself. "There's a person tied to the bed." I said with more confidence. "Ha the world is much too dangerous for a women eh James?" I mocked. I looked at the man that was unconscious in front of me and decided I wanted answers. I saw a bowl filled with water and decided to dump it on his head.
He quickly sat up with a jerk breathing harshly. "Hey! That was cold!" He replied his silver eyes burning into my blue ones. He was the one who knocked me out! He realized the situation he was in and struggled to get free but the sheets were too tightly wrapped. "and you knocked me out." he grumbled.
"I was just returning the favor." I growled and pointed to my head.
"Sorry about that but I had to, it was the only way." He smiled. He made me nervous and I started to mix up my words.
"Look I want questions." I stuttered.
"You mean answers?" He corrected.
"N-I mean yes! Answers! Where am I, who are you, what do you want with me-"
"Look sweet heart I'm not going to say a word until you untie me." He smiled.
"Ha! Not going to happen."
"Well until you untie me looks like we could be here a while. Which is fine by me if you know what I mean." He said wiggling his eyebrows. He was good looking, you could tell he was really muscular by the way his soaked white shirt clung to his body, he was really tan and had a pearly white smile, it was odd that his teeth would be so nice because he is a pirate and all but I knew better.
"You just lost any chance you had at getting untied." Not that I was going to untie him in the first place, but it made me feel better. He growled and fought his restraints again.
"Look I'm going to give you to the count of three to untie me or-"
"Or what?" I smirked at him.
"Or I'm going to throw you in the brig!" he yelled.
"That's a funny thing to say since you know your all tied up and everything." I laughed "funny how fast the tides can change."
"One..." he said.
"Oh come on your not really counting are you?" I laughed.
"Two..." If looks could kill I would be six feet in the ground by now.
"There's nothing you can do, just give up already."
"Three..." as he said the word three the bed sheets dropped to the ground and he stood up. I felt my stomach dropped to the floor. It didn't take a scientist to know that bad things where coming my way. "I warned you." He said. I quickly stood up and threw the chair at him and opened the door to make a run for it. The sun was high in the sky and men were moving among the ship in every direction as I ran to the middle of the deck. "Stop her!" He yelled. All the men stopped what they were doing and came after me. It wasn't to long before they surrounded me in a giant circle.
"Little girls should learn ta behave themselves." Said a scraggly toothed pirate.
"We should teach er' a lesson." Yelled one in the back. They all laughed and started to move towards me. I screamed as one of them grabbed my arm really tight.
"What is going on here?" I heard a harsh voice yell.
Everyone looked in the direction it came from. A tall man with raven black hair passed through the crowd and into the circle. He looked just like the guy who I had tied up earlier except he was a little taller and broader shoulders, he had golden eyes and a sharper jaw. Wait I remembered those eyes. He was the man from the ball.
"Captain!" said the man that was holding me by my arm.
"I asked you a question!" he yelled.
"She got out sir, we was goin ta teach er' a lesson."
"That is not your decision," He barked, his eyes shooting daggers at the man that was holding me. "I will decide what happens with the girl, not you or anyone one else! Is that clear!" the crew mumbled.
"But Cap'-" I screamed as the captain took out his pistol and shot the man who protested.
"I said is that clear!" he yelled once again.
"Aye!" the crew all said in sync.
"Good. Now everybody get back to work!" The men scattered to their corners and got busy hoisting the sails and rolling barrels around the deck except for the man holding me. "I will take care of the girl." Said the captain.
"See ta it ya do." He replied and threw me into the captain. He grabbed me by my elbow and threw me into the room I woke up in. my guess is that it was the Captain's quarters. I scurried up against the desk and leaned against it. The Captain walked closer and closer.
"Don't come any further." I said shakily. "I mean it." He didn't say anything but stopped inches away from me. "What do you want with me? Why am I here?" he didn't say anything but looked at me. "Who are you?" he gave me a half smile.
"So many questions for such a small women." He said as he walked closer.
"Stop! That's close enough!" I warned him but he kept comming closer. I felt for something anything that I could hit him with on the desk and relief flooded me as I found something small and pointy on his desk. I grabbed it and prepared myself.
"Put the pen down Brea." He said coolly. I refused and before he could do anything I stabbed the pen in his shoulder. He yelled and yanked out the pen. I tried to run but he tripped me. I went flying on the ground and slammed my head against the baseboard of the bed. My vision started to go foggy as I struggled to fight the darkness that I know would overcome me.
"Asten!" I heard the captain shout. The man with silver eyes came running into the room.
"What? What is it?" He asked.
"Get her out of here! She is going to stay with you in your quarters." Before I could hear or see any more my vision disappeared and once again everything went black.
