I woke the next morning feeling surprisingly well rested, considering that I only slept for a short while the night before. I got out of bed to get dressed, then washed my face and hair with the little amount of soap and oils I had that sat next to the bowl of water, however, it was better then nothing. Images from the night before played in my mind. I was tired of feeling like I was being pushed around all the time and not knowing how to protect my self when trouble came lurking. I heard a light knock on the door, speaking of trouble I thought to my self expecting to see Asten open the door for his routine wake up call.

"Come in." I said and started to make Obsidian's bed, I heard the door open and heavy footsteps enter into the room. "why do you-" I started expecting to see Asten, but was surprised when I saw the captain in front of me instead. "Oh I thought you were Asten."

"Forgive me, he's a bit preoccupied at the moment."

"Oh."

"I just came to make sure you were up."

"oh, is that all?" he hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"well no, you see I was hoping that, well since you are a woman and all, that you know how to sow and well-"

"just because I am a women doesn't mean I know how to sow."

"Oh." He said as he averted his eyes away from mine.

"but lucky for you, my lady in waiting taught me a thing or two about it. What do you need me to fix." I saw a glimmer in his eye and a slight smile cross his face as he turned to his wardrobe and pulled out a couple of his shirts and a pair of pants.

"would you sow these for me? They have a couple of holes in them and I just don't know how or have the time to fix them."

"set them on the edge of the bed, I'll get to them when I can, there are a couple of things I need to do first." He nodded his head and set them on the edge of the bed closest to me and lightly brushed by me in the process; sending tingles down my arm, then he turned to walk out of the room.

"Thank you." He said softly and carried on his way, leaving the door open behind him. I rubbed my arms for a moment trying to get rid of the little bumps that had spread across them. I turned and finished making the bed, I rubbed my arms one last time then walked out on deck in search of Asten. I found him in the center of the ship bossing around the others on board, the men did as they were told and mopped the deck and tossed the rubbish over board.

"Teach me to fight." I demanded as I walked up to him.

"well good morning to you too kitten."

"teach me how to fight." I repeated, he raised an eyebrow at me.

"Why should I?"

"I'm tired of not being able to protect myself. What if I were to get separated from you and ran into trouble? I need to be able to defend myself." A smile crossed his face, his gaze shifted over to the ships wheel behind me, a questioning look splayed across his face. I followed his gaze to see the captain leaning over the railing looking down at us. He shrugged his shoulders and turned away to talk to the scraggly looking man steering the ship.

"Well kitten, after thinking long and hard about the advantages and disadvantages of having a women operating a blade, the captain and I have decided to follow threw with your request." I rolled my eyes at his snarky comment. At least I will learn how to fight.

"Alright where do we start?"

"You should be asking when we start." I slumped my shoulders and sighed.

"Okay when do we start?"

"When I say so." He said and walked away, leaving me in a confused state. I will never understand pirates. Instead of humoring Asten and following him to try to get answers, I walked over to one of the wooden barrels that sat up against the side of the ship and found a piece of rope tied into a mokey's fist sitting on top of the barrel. For a while, I sat on the side of the ships railing and absentmindedly fiddled with the ball, getting lost in thought about what was to come in the feature. I tried to untangle the knot but ended up dropping it instead and watched it roll over to a hole in the ships deck and fall through. I sighed and got up from my spot to go grab my play toy below deck. I walked down the stairs into the dark sleeping quarters of the crew. Trying not to desturb some of the napping crew members I searched for my make shift ball and finally found it hiding behind an old fishing net. I picked it up and dusted off the spiderwebs that gotten stuck to the rope. I was just about to turn away when I herd whispering coming from the brig below me. Something told me just to keep to my own business and go back up top but curiosity was getting the better of me.
