I slowly opened my eyes, sunlight trickling in from a crack in the cutains of the bed. I was in a different room. This one didn't seem as cold and dark as the captain's, it still doesn't seem right. Where was I now? The room was smaller and the window wasn't covered by a big drape like in the captain's room.
I sat up on the bed and slowly opened the bed curtain. Once again there was no one else in the room with me and I said a silent thank you. My head spun in pain, how many times had I been smacked on the head within the last twenty-four hours, two? I'm pretty sure it was just two, then again there could have been other times I just don't remember. I looked over to where a dresser sat in the corner, a bowl with a wash cloth sat atop of it. I walked over and picked up the cloth in hopes that there would be some cool water a waiting me in the bowl that would help subdue my terrible head ache. But to my disappointment there was no water in the bowl. I sat down on a chair that was next to the dresser and rubbed my eyes. How could this be happening to me? What did I ever do to deserve being kidnapped by pirates? Nothing made sense, but I was determined to find out. A tear fell down my face as I struggled to remember anything and wondering if all was well back home. Another tear plopped on my lap as I heard voices coming my way. I rubbed my face of my salty tears and tried to gather myself.
"I just don't see why she has to stay with me." Sounded one voice."Because she clearly needs to be watched so she doesn't get into trouble." Said a different voice.
"I am not a baby sitter! I am your first mate!" Yelled voice number one.
"Because you are the first mate I expect you to do as I say!"
"I'm not just your first mate! I am your brother!"
"And because of that I gave you this task, you are the only on I trust! God's help me if I'm wrong to do so! Do as you are told little brother or else you will suffer the consequences." I heard silence for the longest moment then the door burst open.
"Ah, glad to see you're awake Sleeping Beauty, are you hungry? Here I brought you an apple." The man with silver eyes whos name I rembered to be Asten said chucking the piece of fruit into my hands. I stared in silence at the green fruit in my hands and a questioning look spread across my face. "What? Do you not want the apple? I assure you it's not poisoned." He stated, I sat there in silence. "Do you not like apples? My dear how shocking!" He said in a British accent. I glared at him and decided to keep my mouth shut. That is unless he kept up with the accent then I might just lose my temper.
"No, I want answers." I growled.
"You don't like apples?"
"No I do like apples, but I want answers, not apples."
"Fine, fine." He said waving his arms as he took a chair and sat it opposite me. He leaned over the back and rested his arms on the top of it.
"My name is Asten and you are Brea." He said holding out his hand. I almost shook his hand but I kept my distance.
"What do you want with me?" I said while folding my arms.
"What is this, a lady who slouches? Gasp I'm offended!" He mocked.
"Like you know what's proper and what's not. You a pirate for crying out loud!"
"Very good, you sure are moving up in the world Brea." I clenched my fists together.
"Are you going to give me answers or not?"
"All in good time sweet heart." He grinned.
"Do not call me that!" I shouted.
"Whatever you say...kitten." he smiled wickedly. That was the last straw, I went to lunge at him but he was to fast. "Careful kitten, you wouldn't want to bump that pretty little head of yours, you've already got a few good sized goose bumps."
"Huh, wonder how they got there." I said sarcastically.
"Would have taken care of them for you, but I didn't want to get scratched or bitten," he mocked seeming to stick with the cat theme. "So I left you to do it yourself."
"Oh, how kind of you, considering you forgot to give me water to clean my head with."
"OH I didn't forget, I just didn't want you to splash me with it when I walked back in."
"You are barbaric!" I ran to punch him but he caught my fist and twirled me so my arm was behind me, I couldn't move.
"No I'm just clever."
"Let me go Asten!" I screeched.
"Not until you calm down, I don't trust that you won't try to harm me again."
"Fine I'm calm!"
"Breath in, breath out, in and out." He whisper rythmically in my ear. For some reason I actually felt my body to start to relax. I tried to fight the urge but my body disobeyed me. He turned me around and let me go. His intense silver eyes gazed into my light blue ones, and I felt like I was almost in a trance. He dipped his head close to me and I noticed how close we were but I physically couldn't move and His lips were dangerously close to mine.
"You are a dangerous women Brea Michelson." He laughed and stepped towards the door and turned the knob. "There's some water in a pitcher just through that door over there," he pointed to a door beside the bed. He turned to leave but said. "OH and Brea, before I forget, don't try anything stupid, and welcome aboard the Pirates Curse." He laughed and slammed the door. I felt my blood boil inside me at that.
Who does he think he is! I am a lady! I don't know where he comes from, but where I come from there's a little thing called respect. I was pacing back and forth trying to calm down, none of my questions have been answerd . Well one of them has, he did tell me his name, but that was the least of my concerns. I stopped pacing back and forth for a moment and gazed upon the room, and sitting on the window ceal was a glass bowl. Walking over to the bowl I peered inside, little grains of sand sat in the bottom of the bowl along with a strange looking rock. The rock was a rich gray and was covered in orange spots. I looked at the rock harder and saw it twitch, I tapped the glass and it moved again. That's when I realized it was a fish! It had small eyes that sat on the top of its head that looked at me. Well at least I think it was looking at me. It was hard to tell which direction the fish was staring at.
"Looks like I'm not the only one imprisoned here huh little guy." The fish's eyes switched and it swam around the bottom of the glass. I sat by the fish for a while and realized that I had started to talk to it. I must have been going crazy or something, because who talks to fish? Oh yeah I do... it was strange but comforting, I almost felt like the fish could understand me. After a while I got sick of calling the fish, fish, so I gave it a name. I decided to call him Steven. I know it's a stupid name for a fish but it's the best I could come up with. I think after a couple of hours of non stop talking Steven seemed annoyed with me, so I walked through the door by the bed to get some water. The room was somewhat small and had a small sink. It probably only pumped salt water so I didn't try to drink it. Instead I found the pitcher sitting on the side of the sink next to a small glass. I poured myself some water, it wasn't until I started to drink it that I realized how thirsty I was. I drank about half of the pitcher maybe a little more and saved the rest to pour in the large bowl that sat on the dresser. I dipped the wash cloth in the bowl of water and dabbed a little on my head. It felt really nice, I took the cloth and laid down on the bed. The cold water started to take away most of my head ache and before I knew it I started to wander off into a dreamless sleep.A few hours later I awoke to Asten's face right next to mine. I jumped startled at his close proximity. He laughed and rolled over on the other side of the bed to stand up.
"Hello kitten." He chuckled. I sent him a glare from the other side of the room, I still don't trust this guy, and I need my answers.
"What do you want?" I huffed.
"OH why do you always think I want something? Can't I just come say hello to a friend?" He replied leaning up against the bed post.
"Friends, is that what you call it? I assure you mister we are not friends."
"OH come, come, we are going to be spending a lot of time together so we may as well get to know one another." He wiggled his eyebrows.
"I don't want to get to know you. I want off this pathetic excuse of a ship."
"Ouch, you hurt my feelings."
"Funny, I didn't know pirates had feelings."
"Well I assure you kitten that this is not some pathetic excuse of a ship, as you just now described it. It is pretty miraculous if you ask me. You just haven't really seen it. He smirked
"What ever you say pirate." I grumbled. He laughed and started to walk towards me.
"Actually the name is Asten, and to be honest I didn't just come here to talk."
"I knew it, what do you want from me?" I asked.
"Well sweet heart, I have orders from the captain. You are to attend dinner in his quarters for the evening and you are to wear that." He pointed to a dress that hung by the window. It was a peppermint green and pearl white. It was a long dress and it had quarter cut sleeves that laced down the sides. It wasn't bad, it was probably stolen, and I had no interstate in wearing it."No." I said holding my ground.
"You seem to have misunderstood me. This was not a yes or no question. You will be dining with the captain or, he stepped close to me and looked me up and down. "Or you won't like what will happen to you if you dont." He grinned. "Be ready in ten minutes or else." He said and turned to leave.
"Or else what?" I mocked.
"Or else I will come in here and put you in that dress myself. But by all means don't get dressed I'd be more than happy to help you."
"I am a lady!" I said flabbergasted.
"Honey not on this ship your arent." And he slammed the door.Ugh! He is so infuriating! I stomped around the room mumbling to myself about dresses and pirates, amongst other things. I stopped to look at the dress again. I don't want to wear it, but I don't want to be man- handled by a pirate either. DE I ding to get dressed I slipped on the dress, it fit perfectly. It made whatever curves I had stand out. I looked at my hair and tried to run my fingers threw it but it was nearly impossible. I looked through drawers and was able to find a small comb, it took me the rest of the ten minutes I was given to comb out the rats nest in my hair, and before I knew it I heard feet approaching and they stopped at the door.
"Ready or not here I come!" And the door flew open.
"Honestly do you have to slam the door everytime you walk in or out of the room? It's extremely annoying." I stated turning around and caught Asten looking me up annoying down. He circled me with a look of aproval on his face. "What's with all the circling? Your acting like an animal who hasn't seen food in weaks." I said placing my hands on my hips."A woman with a pretty face should never frown, it gives you wrinkles." He gestured to his face. I frowned out of spite."come on I will escorts you to the caltain."
"I'm not going."
"Don't be ridiculous, of course you're going. Now come on." Yanking my arm along with him.
"I'm said no!" And ripped my arm from his grasp. "I'm have no desire to meet you captain."
"You will come with me even if I have to drag you there." He threatened.
"You wouldn't dare." He raised an eyebrow at my protest.
"Try me." He challenged.
"I-" but before I could get the words out of my mouth he scooped me up over his shoulder and kicked the door open. "Put me down right now!" I yelled. I slapped his back and kicked and tried everything I could to make him drop me but nothing was working, his grip wast to firm. It was dark outside and the air was cool. While I was kicking and screaming the crew gathered around us and was laughing at me.
"She be a feisty one." Laughed on of the men.
"You have no idea." Asten said. He kicked another door open to reveal a room lit by a bunch of candles. He plopped me down in a hard wooden chair, and I tried to make a run for it but he pushed my shoulders down. "Don't even think about it." Before me sat a small table with some sort of meat in the middle and a different variety of food. Most of it was foreign to me. "You will sit here and be a good girl until the caltain comes in, then after I will come back and get you." He said and walked out of the room. Well clearly there was no way of getting out of dinner so I used the time by myself to take a look at my surroundings. I could see better now that the room had better lighting than before. It was was a bigger than Asten's room and had big windows that lined the back of the ship. There were French doors that were placed in the middle of the windows that must have lead out to some sort of deck. On the table sat some China plates and cups along with some fine silverware. I took the knife and placed it beside my dress on the chair. It was obvious that I had taken it but I had to give it a try. The door slowly opened and the man with golden eyes stepped into the room.
"Hello love." He said smoothly with a crooked smile.
