Chapter 21: Firsts

Kevin Pov

"Call me when you're ready to party you sexy beast."

"Give me my wallet back and get the hell out Nat."He grinned and tossed my wallet at me.
"Fine. You were out of money anyways."
"You're really asking for an ass kicking Goldberg."
"Whatever you say Sunshine. Don't forget to give me a call when you're ready. Ciao!" He was out of the door before I could respond.

I sighed and slowly made my way up the stairs.
Edd was peacefully snoring in his bed. I gently picked him up and carried him downstairs. I placed him on the couch and quickly scribbled a something on a sticky note. I placed the crutch that Nat had brought next to the couch. I held his hand as I kissed his cheek. His fingers curled around my hand and a soft smile formed on his lips.

I smiled back at him and quietly walked out of the house.

Edd Pov

I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. "How'd I get downstairs?"
There was a series of sticky notes on the coffee table. I sat up and grabbed a note sitting next to a glass of water.

"Take your medicine. You'll need it for what I have in store for you ;)"
I quickly swallowed the pills and moved on to the next note.

"I never got to give you your last few presents Double Dork. We're gonna play a little treasure hunting game to make things a bit fun."

"The first present is ironically hiding in the first present I ever got you."

"P.S. I left a crutch for you. If you get tired or need help, just yell and I'll be there in a heartbeat."

I chuckled and stood up.
"This'll be interesting! Let's see, the first present was..."
I walked to the living room bookshelf and opened the scientific novel that Kevin had given me after our first date. Inside the cover was another note.

"That wasn't hard was it? Your present didn't fit in here so open the bottom left drawer."

I followed the note's directions. There was a white box stuffed into the drawer. It was the new illuminating model #26 ant terrarium. I pulled it out and read the notes attached to it.

"I've already ordered the ants and farm connectors. They should be here in a few days."

"Your next present is where we shared our first kiss."

I smiled at the note and made my way towards the field behind the cul-de-sac.

I neared the exact spot where we had had our picnic together. There was a small yellow square lying in the grass. I picked it up and read it.

"You're good at this Dork! The present is hiding behind the tall tree."

I walked around the tree and found an ornate ceramic planter.

"Jim's gotten pretty big huh? I figured he could use a new pot. There's some new soil waiting for him at home too."

"Leave the pot here. I'll come back and get it later."

"The third present is where I first said 'I love you'."

"The very first ''I love you'?"
I stood there for a few minutes trying to remember. I groaned in frustration.
"When did he say it? And where were we?"

I leaned against the tree and closed my eyes. I focused all of my energy on trying to remember. A breeze blew through the trees and shifted my hat.
"That's right!"

I was scavenging for something in the junkyard and climbed atop an exceptionally large pile of junk. My hat had gotten caught when I slipped and fell down the pile. I was in the middle of trying to retrieve it when Kevin had come by. He didn't say a word as he wrapped his shirt around my head. He climbed the pile and came back down with my hat and a cut on his stomach.
