Minho ran into the Glade and towards the Map room. He wasn't worried that Newt was still out there. He probably was onto something and didn't want to quit, Minho just let him carry on. The poor blonde was stressing out more lately, acting sad and depressed when he thought no one was looking. One time, Minho had overheard Newt sobbing in the middle of the night! The Keeper of the Runners knew that since Y/N's death he wasn't the same. He didn't smile the same as he did before, not the same laugh, nothing about him was right anymore. Y/N really was his everything, but the Creators took her away. Leaving a once happy and bright boy now broken and shattered.

It was now 4:40pm, according to Minho's watch, and Newt still wasn't back. "What's taking that shank so long...?", the dark haired boy muttered to himself, walking about the Glade looking for Alby. "Hey, Alby!", Alby turned away from talking to Zart to see what Minho wanted.
"Minho, what is it?"
"It's Newt, he isn't back yet and I was wondering if he had come back without me noticing"
Before the Leader of the Gladers could answer, a heart-wrenching wail sounded throughout the entire Glade. The boys all went pale in the face as Alby started sprinting for the Doors.
"Newt!"

Pain.
Agonising pain was all that Newt felt when the dirty floor of the Maze met with his useless body. Newt cried out in agony as he heard a great, loud 'snap' from his left ankle. "Ah!", the pain was so intense that it caused Newt to see black spots in his vision. His cries of pain and wails of agony echoed through every corridor in the twisted place until they reached the Glade.

"WHY?!", Newt cried out in anger, "WHY AM I NOT DEAD?!". Alby heard this as he continued to sprint through the Maze, Newt's cries becoming louder with each turn. "I just want to be with her... I just want to see her again...", Newt whimpered as his best friend came sprinting around the corner.
"Newt!", Alby yelled as he kneeled down beside his broken friend. "Look at me, buddy. Look at me!", and when Newt did, Alby froze with terror.
Pain.
So much pain. In those deep brown eyes of his. And it wasn't just physical pain, but emotional pain as well. The broken blonde's eyes filled with salty tears as Alby finally looked away to see what happened. His dark eyes scanned over his S.I.C until they landed on the broken and mangled ankle (Well, what was left of it).

It was covered in blood from an opening in the skin. The foot was now twisted in a most disturbing way that it almost caused Alby to vomit then and there!
"Newt...", the dark-skinned boy murmured to the limp boy in his arms. "How did this happen?". Newt just looked him, with those deep, brown,  pain-filled eyes, and breathed out, "I wanted... to leave...". Then he passed out from the pain. Alby was shocked with what his friend just said, but brushed it off as he lifted Newt off the ground and onto his back. He started making the long trek back to the Glade with dead weight on his back, hoping to make it before sundown.

As soon as he made it, the Med-jacks placed Newt on a stretcher and forced Alby into the hut to be checked over. Hours and hours went past as Alby sat in a bed of the Med-jack hut, waiting for any news on his friend. 'Please be alright', the Leader prayed to himself, 'Please be alright...'. Suddenly Clint came into the room with a solemn look on his face.
"You can see him now", and then Alby was out of the room and into the one next door. Jeff was just tidying up while Newt sat upright in the bed, back up against the wall. Alby looked from Newt to Jeff, asking silently if he could give them a few minutes. Jeff just nodded and left with some bowls in his hand.

The door closed and Alby spoke. "What happened?". It was meant to sound genuine, like he was genuinely worried about the boy. But it came out harsh and direct, like a command from a general to a soldier. No tone in it.
"I jumped", was the reply that Alby got.
"Excuse me?"
"I jumped", he repeated it again, but continued with an explanation. "I climbed those shuckin' vines, and I jumped. I climbed halfway up and let go.".
"But why?", Alby questioned, sitting down in the chair beside Newt's bed. "Why did you jump? Everything was fine with you, what happened?". Newt suddenly turned to face Alby and their eyes met. Alby's eyes were full of confusion and worry, but Newt's was full of anger. Rage. Pain. Grief.
"I jumped, Alby, because I hate this place. I hate it so much! We have been here for 2 years now and still we have found nothing! I am sick of bringing false hope back to the Glade everyday. Sick of lying to my brothers and telling them that there is a way out of this hellhole, because there ISN'T! It's a Maze with no exit and the shuckin' Creators are probably laughing at us right now. At how pathetic and silly we are in believing there is a way out!". Newt's eyes were filled with tears of anger and suffering, Alby couldn't believe he didn't see this before. How could he have missed his best friend suffering so much?
